Start the new year off with a First Day Hike or Ride at Platte River State Park!

Hike: Meet at 9 a.m. at the Walter Scott Lodge next to the red tower and join our Park Naturalists for a hike to Stone Creek Falls. Following the hike, warm up by the fireplace with hot cocoa, coffee and donut holes.

Bike: If you prefer biking over hiking, join folks out on the mountain bike trails for a First Day Ride. We will be meeting at the amphitheater parking lot for a group ride at 9 a.m., led by an experienced Platte River trails enthusiast. Coffee, hot chocolate and donut holes will be provided before the ride!

Prepare for your winter hike or ride:  dress in layers, wear a hat, bring a warm/insulated water bottle and check the forecast.

Programs may be altered depending on the temperature and/or trail conditions. Please call ahead if there are weather advisories in the area.

A 2026 Nebraska state park vehicle permit is required for entry and can be purchased at the park entrance.
