Fort Hartsuff continues its 150th Anniversary with a commemoration of the 1876 Battle of the Blowout and honors for a fallen soldier. Join us May 16^th & 17^th for reenactments, presentations, and living history.

Saturday Activities

10:30 a.m. – Call for help from the fort and ride out to battle

11 a.m. – MJ Jadick presents “What Just Happened? The Unfolding of the Battle of the Blowout”

11:45 a.m. – Alan Bartels presents “Sifting through Sandhills: Rediscovering the Site of the Battle of the Blowout”

1:30p.m. – Dr. Jean Lukesh presents “The Trooper’s Message on the Wall”

2:15 p.m. – Garry Wells presents “Military Occupation of the North Loup Valley”

3 p.m. – Return with a fallen soldier and preparations for a funeral

May 16 is Free Fishing and Park Entry Day. Museum admission fees still apply.

Sunday Activities

11 a.m. – Battle of the Blowout Narration, Eulogy for Sgt. William H. Dougherty, and Funeral Procession around the parade ground

Historical buildings and gift shop open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
