Join us for an evening exploring the fascinating world of bats — some of the most mysterious and misunderstood animals in the natural world. \nGet an up-close look at these secretive nocturnal creatures and learn about the important roles they play in our ecosystem. We’ll share how researchers are working to protect bat species across Nebraska and beyond. The evening includes an engaging presentation and\, weather permitting\, a chance to observe bats in action in their natural habitat!  \nThis family-friendly program is in partnership with wildlife biologists within the Pine Ridge Ranger District of the Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands. \nLocation: Please meet at the parking lot just west of the riding stables.\nHike Info: Be prepared for an 800-foot hike on uneven terrain to the bat capture site.\nCost: FREE to attend; a valid 2026 Nebraska state park permit is required for park entry. \n

SUMMARY:4th of July Celebration at Fort Robinson
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the Fourth western-Nebraska-style\, with an outdoors barbecue set against the rugged\, epic backdrop of Fort Robinson State Park. This popular annual barbecue kicks off after Crawford’s town parade finishes around 11 a.m.\, leaving plenty of time for afternoon park activities like historical tours\, fishing and more! In the evening\, many participants head back into town for a rodeo and fireworks. \nEnjoy a hamburger\, baked beans\, potato salad and a drink for $12 per person. \nIn addition\, enjoy the annual Western and Wildlife Art Show at the Fort Robinson Veterinary Hospital. Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 2-3 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 4. \nA valid state park vehicle permit is required for park entry.
