DESCRIPTION:A new season of the Cohort kicks off Tuesday\, July 7 from 6-7:30 p.m.\, at The Mill – Telegraph location in Lincoln. Join us with a favorite beverage as we share the purpose of the Cohort\, what to expect\, and how it has helped women grow their confidence and skills through hunting experiences. \nSummer is the perfect season to prepare for fall hunts\, sharpen outdoor skills\, and connect with other women who enjoy hunting and the outdoors. The Nebraska Ladies Hunting Cohort is a welcoming environment to learn new strategies\, gain confidence\, and share experiences alongside experienced facilitators and guest speakers. Free monthly “huddles” are held on the first Tuesday of each month.  \nWhether you are joining for the first time or returning as a past Cohort participant\, we hope to see you there. \nThe group meets monthly to learn a hunting-related skill. These include firearm safety\, shooting practice\, game processing and outdoor navigation. Adult mentored hunts are available for women that participate in cohort learning workshops. \nEvent is free\, but we encourage pre-registration for planning. SUMMARY:Central Outdoor Discovery Program
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Fort Kearny State Recreation Area May 6 and 7 for the annual Central Outdoor Discovery Program (ODP)! The Central ODP provides interactive programs so all youth\, novice or experienced\, have the opportunity to explore new outdoor activities and recreational possibilities and learn new outdoor skills. The program is designed to enhance students’ knowledge and ethical understanding of wildlife and the outdoors. \nIn addition\, it encourages health and wellness by promoting active outdoor lifestyles. It also engages students in fun\, interactive activities in the areas of wildlife and habitat management\, natural resource use\, Nebraska history\, shooting sports\, hunting skills\, aquatic knowledge and fishing skills\, and camping and recreation. Activities are designed to correlate with Nebraska state educational standards in the areas of science\, math\, history\, reading and writing. \nThe Central ODP is FREE and open to 4th through 6th grade students. DESCRIPTION:Join us at Platte River State Park April 15 and 16 for the annual East Outdoor Discovery Program (ODP)! The East ODP provides interactive programs so all youth\, novice or experienced\, have the opportunity to explore new outdoor activities and recreational possibilities and learn new outdoor skills. The program is designed to enhance students’ knowledge and ethical understanding of wildlife and the outdoors. \nIn addition\, it encourages health and wellness by promoting active outdoor lifestyles. It also engages students in fun\, interactive activities in the areas of wildlife and habitat management\, natural resource use\, Nebraska history\, shooting sports\, hunting skills\, aquatic knowledge and fishing skills\, and camping and recreation. Activities are designed to correlate with Nebraska state educational standards in the areas of science\, math\, history\, reading and writing. \nThe East ODP is FREE and open to 4th and 5th grade students. SUMMARY:Becoming an Outdoors-Woman Learn to Hunt Safely Weekend
DESCRIPTION:A hunter education focused weekend designed to give women the chance to learn the basics of hunter safety and gain firsthand firearm and archery experience in a fun\, safe environment. Basic hunter education course material will be taught through simulated hunting situations\, live fire exercises\, education and responsibility activities. Workshops will be led by women who are experienced hunters and certified volunteer hunter education instructors. \nFemale participants ages 12 years through 18 are required to be accompanied by a participating adult the full weekend. \n$200 Fee includes cabin lodging at Ponca State Park and meals. Note that participants will share a cabin.  Assignments will be made by the event coordinator unless otherwise noted. (separate bedrooms). \nREGISTER HERE \nAll equipment\, including archery and firearms will be provided.\nHunter Education certificate will be given at the end of the weekend.

DESCRIPTION:Nebraska Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) Weekend Workshop\, a program through the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission\, is the cornerstone event. It is held annually on the first weekend in October at Fort Robinson State Park. This three-day workshop includes sessions taught by expert instructors in a supportive environment conducive to learning\, making friends and having fun! Participants complete four sessions of their choosing. \nRegistration will open on April 1 for first time participants\, and any repeat participants who bring a new participants. The repeat participant must register on the same day as their invited new participant\, and list each other as roommates. A pair of binoculars and an identification guide is all you need to get started. \nBirding has been lifechanging for Lincoln resident Ruby Rolland. Now\, she hopes to empower other women to also pick up binoculars. DESCRIPTION:Join us for this fun\, educational event on August 23 from 8 – 10 a.m. that allows women to learn and experience fishing. \nThis event will take place at Merritt Reservoir State Rec Area. Participants will learn basic skills like selecting equipment\, baiting a hook\, casting a line and releasing the fish safely back into its habitat. All equipment and bait will be provided for the evening full of fun\, fellowship\, and females fishing. \nAll participants 16 years and older are required to have a Nebraska fishing licenses. \nREGISTER NOW
