SUMMARY:2026 Nebraska Youth Smallbore Silhouette Invitational
DESCRIPTION:The 50th Annual Nebraska Youth Smallbore Silhouette Invitational will be September 26\, 2026 at the Pressey Wildlife Management Area (located 17 miles south of Broken Bow). This is a FREE event\, open to all youth age 11 or older who have successfully completed Hunter Education and who have not yet graduated from high school. Proof of Hunter Education completion is required. \nAll first-time participants at the event will receive one free box of .22 ammo! \nThis metal target event is meant to be fun while providing a challenge for .22 rifle shooters from beginner to advanced. Each participant will shoot 40 scoring shots from a standing position: 10 shots at 44 yards\, 10 shots at 66 yards\, 10 shots at 84 yards\, and 10 shots at 109 yards. \nThe range will open for practice at 8 a.m. Scoring relays will begin at 10:30 a.m. and conclude mid-afternoon. Individuals are encouraged to enter and may opt to join their scores with others for team rankings. Individuals and teams will compete against others in their own class according to age\, rifle weight\, sight type\, and experience level. Trophies and medals will be awarded to the winners of each class. \nEar and eye protection will be required for all persons on the line. An empty chamber indicator (ECI) will be required; indicators are available if you do not have one. \nPreregistration is preferred by completing the online form by Noon on Thursday\, September 24.  Registrations can also be made on the day of competition. \nREGISTER HERE (Google Form Link)

SUMMARY:2026 Fall Indoor Archery League - Session 1
DESCRIPTION:Add excitement and variety to your range practice by joining our Fall Indoor Archery League! \nThe Fall Archery League “Session 1” will meet at 7 pm on Thursday evenings for 6 weeks\, September 24 – October 29. If you can’t make it one week\, feel free to drop in during the center’s open hours and shoot the round. All targets must be shot at the Outdoor Education Center. \nEach week will be a different round\, with scores recorded\, and a cumulative score for the series. Target face and distances will accord to each round’s rules for ages and bow style. \nBow styles will be:\nCompound\nFixed Pin/Bowhunter\nBarebow / Traditional / Genesis (not NASP)\nRecurve\nNASP (will shoot a standard NASP round each week – up to 19 years old) \nIndividual prizes will be awarded by drawing ‘tickets’. Tickets are earned by attendance\, top score each week\, most overall improved\, and top overall score. The number of prizes awarded will depend on number of entries (minimum of 1 prize per 5 entries). Weekly top score tickets will be awarded for each bow style represented. Final cumulative scores tickets may involve combined divisions\, depending on participation. \nAges 8 and up. DESCRIPTION:Second Shots Pistol is designed to build on the handgun skills introduced in our FIRST SHOTS course. It’s also a good refresher for those who are years out of practice. \nStudents learn more about ammunition\, loading a magazine\, clearing a pistol and locking the slide back\, and handling malfunctions. Plus\, students get the practical experience of loading and shooting a variety of handgun styles and calibers in the range. \nIn the range\, the basics of stance\, sight picture\, and trigger control are emphasized to maximize success. After completing this class\, participants will be prepared to safely use the range on their own. \nOverall\, Second Shots Pistol teaches the basic knowledge\, skills\, and attitude necessary for owning and using a handgun safely. The small class size allows students to ask questions and receive individual advice. \nCourse covers: \n\nHandgun knowledge & review safe handling\nReview fundamentals of handgun shooting\nAmmunition knowledge\nActual range practice\nA variety of pistols\, ammo\, and targets provided\n\nPlease bring your own eye and ear protection. \nIf you have your own pistol\, you may bring it to use on the range (be sure to bring 50 rounds of ammunition). \nClosed-neck shirts and closed-toe shoes are recommended. \nFor students age 16 and over. DESCRIPTION:Have you completed Explore Archery and want to learn more? Do you shoot NASP and want to continue working on your archery during the off season? Are you just starting out in archery and want some instruction? If this is you\, our JOAD (Junior Olympic Archery Development) Skills class is just the thing. \nJOAD Skills is open to students who are new to JOAD or who are still working to advance to JOAD Academy. Explore Archery is a recommended prerequisite but not required. \nThis JOAD/AAP course includes achievement awards\, skill training\, and games with a focus on guiding each student in improvement at their own pace. Each session includes a short lesson and coaching while students are on the line. JOAD Skills students have the opportunity to shoot for pins during select class sessions. Over the course of the session\, students will advance their scoring skills\, learn about competition etiquette\, and work to achieve the pins and techniques needed to advance to the next level. \nNo equipment is required\, but personal equipment is allowed for some portions of the class. \nClass is 1 hour\n$80/student\nAges 8 and over \nPrerequisites: None (Explore Archery recommended) \nREGISTER HERE

Explore Archery is a recommended prerequisite but not required. \nThis JOAD/AAP course includes achievement awards\, skill training\, and games with a focus on guiding each student in improvement at their own pace. Each session includes a short lesson and coaching while students are on the line. JOAD Skills students have the opportunity to shoot for pins during select class sessions. DESCRIPTION:Join us at Platte River State Park’s Roger G. Sykes Outdoor Heritage Education Complex to learn all about archery on Saturday\, Sept. 12. \nBring family and friends and enjoy free activities including balloon archery\, 3D archery\, slingshots\, atlatl\, tomahawk throwing\, pellet gun shooting gallery\, campground games\, a naturalist tent with live reptiles\, marshmallow roasting and Dutch oven cooking! Food will be available while supplies last from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. \nWe will also have special guest Correy Hawk\, who you may recognize from the wilderness survival show “Alone”\,  demonstrating how to make handmade archery equipment. \nA valid state park vehicle permit is required for park entry and can be purchased at the entrance or online. This program is free and does not require registration. \n*This program coincides with Girl Scouts Love State Parks and scouts will be able to pick up a “Girl Scouts Love State Parks: Explore Nebraska” magazine while attending!
