DESCRIPTION:Registration for the Outdoor Education Center’s Free\, Standard and Air Pistol Matches on March 29 -or- April 1\, 2025. This match will be offered on two dates – attend on whichever day works best for your schedule (Saturday or Monday). \nThis is a stand-alone match open to pistols from all manufacturers. See information below about courses of fire. All matches are shot from a one-handed standing position. \nCompetitors may shoot up to three pistol matches – Free (.22) Pistol\, Standard (.22) Pistol\, and/or Air Pistol. For descriptions\, see below. First entry is $20\, second is $10\, and third is $5. This month’s Free and Standard Pistol Matches are official NRA Sectionals with an additional $5 per match competitor fee. A $5 discount will be applied for advance registrations received by Friday\, March 28. \nFor target\, distance\, rounds\, and timing summary\, see below. Complete event rules can be found here. \nSchedule: \nSaturday\, March 29th: Relays available from 8 am to 12 pm. Select relay during registration. \nMonday\, April 1st: Relays available from 1 to 7 pm. Select relay during registration. \nPreregister to schedule a relay time. Open to any .22 caliber rimfire pistols with open sights; see rulebook for complete gun specifications. Five sighters may be fired in a 150 second time limit. This is a 60 shot match divided into 3 stages.\nStage 1: 5 shots in 2.5 minutes [150 seconds]\, 4 times = 20 shots\nStage 2: 5 shots in 20 seconds\, 4 times = 20 shots\nStage 3: 5 shots in 10 seconds\, 4 times = 20 shots\nUses target B-33 at 50 feet. Course of fire takes about 30 minutes to complete. \nAir Pistol\nOpen to .177 caliber air pistols with open sights; see rulebook for complete gun specifications. DESCRIPTION:Registration for the Turpin Outdoor Education Center’s GSSF Indoor League Series – Match 2 on March 18 or 22. For this series\, each match will be offered on two dates – attend on whichever day works best for your schedule (Tuesday or Saturday). \nThis is the SECOND match for this series. Competitors must shoot in two out of the three available matches (February\, March\, April) to be eligible for prizes. The third match will take place on April 8 or 12. \nCompetitors may shoot up to 5 divisions – Stock\, Unlimited\, Pocket\, Rimfire\, and MOS. For division descriptions\, see below. First entry per date is $20\, second is $10\, third is $5\, fourth is $5\, and fifth is $5. Secondary entries in the same division are $5 each and only count as additional chances in the prize drawings. \nThis match will follow GSSF’s ‘Original’ course of fire for Stock\, Unlimited\, Rimfire\, and MOS and ‘Option E’ for Pocket. For target\, distance\, rounds\, and timing specifications\, see the document under More Information. \nAll competitors in the GSSF Indoor League Series must be GSSF Members and compete using Glocks that conform to Stock\, Unlimited\, Pocket\, Rimfire\, and/or MOS division rules. SUMMARY:Archery 3 - JOAD: Spring Session 2025
DESCRIPTION:JOAD 3: This class focuses on building skills to become a lifelong archer and enjoy the love of the sport. The focus of this course is to refine the archers shot process and deepen their understanding of what makes a great shot. This class emphasizes deliberate practice and encourages camaraderie through training with teammates and building community within the Center Shot Archery Academy. Whether aiming for personal growth or competitive success\, this class provides the skills and environment to thrive in the sport for years to come. \nJOAD 3 involves many drills\, personal homework and a lot of training to elevate your skills to help you perform at your best! Archers will fine tune their shot process and further develop the physical and mental aspect of the sport of archery. \nThis class is 1½ hours long and is offered on: \nFridays 6:00pm – 7:30pm \nCost is $80 \nStudents are highly encouraged to shoot and train outside of class and attend tournaments and pin shoots with other Center Shot Archery Academy students. \nRegistration is available to students who have previously participated in a JOAD 2 class. \nPersonal equipment is highly recommended but not required. DESCRIPTION:Second Shots Pistol is designed to build on the handgun skills introduced in our FIRST SHOTS course. It’s also a good refresher for those who are years out of practice. \nStudents learn more about ammunition\, loading a magazine\, clearing a pistol and locking the slide back\, and handling malfunctions. Plus\, students get the practical experience of loading and shooting a variety of handgun styles and calibers in the range. \nIn the range\, the basics of stance\, sight picture\, and trigger control are emphasized to maximize success. After completing this class\, participants will be prepared to safely use the range on their own. \nOverall\, Second Shots Pistol teaches the basic knowledge\, skills\, and attitude necessary for owning and using a handgun safely. The small class size allows students to ask questions and receive individual advice. \nCourse covers: \n\nHandgun knowledge & review safe handling\nReview fundamentals of handgun shooting\nAmmunition knowledge\nActual range practice\nA variety of pistols\, ammo\, and targets provided\n\nPlease bring your own eye and ear protection. \nIf you have your own pistol\, you may bring it to use on the range (be sure to bring 50 rounds of ammunition). \nClosed-neck shirts and closed-toe shoes are recommended. \nFor students age 16 and over. DESCRIPTION:Registration for the Turpin Outdoor Education Center’s GSSF Indoor League Series – Match 2 on March 18 or 22. For this series\, each match will be offered on two dates – attend on whichever day works best for your schedule (Tuesday or Saturday). \nThis is the SECOND match for this series. Competitors must shoot in two out of the three available matches (February\, March\, April) to be eligible for prizes. The third match will take place on April 8 or 12. \nCompetitors may shoot up to 5 divisions – Stock\, Unlimited\, Pocket\, Rimfire\, and MOS. For division descriptions\, see below. First entry per date is $20\, second is $10\, third is $5\, fourth is $5\, and fifth is $5. Secondary entries in the same division are $5 each and only count as additional chances in the prize drawings. \nThis match will follow GSSF’s ‘Original’ course of fire for Stock\, Unlimited\, Rimfire\, and MOS and ‘Option E’ for Pocket. DESCRIPTION:JOAD 3: This class focuses on building skills to become a lifelong archer and enjoy the love of the sport. The focus of this course is to refine the archers shot process and deepen their understanding of what makes a great shot. This class emphasizes deliberate practice and encourages camaraderie through training with teammates and building community within the Center Shot Archery Academy. Whether aiming for personal growth or competitive success\, this class provides the skills and environment to thrive in the sport for years to come. \nJOAD 3 involves many drills\, personal homework and a lot of training to elevate your skills to help you perform at your best! Archers will fine tune their shot process and further develop the physical and mental aspect of the sport of archery. \nThis class is 1½ hours long and is offered on: \nFridays 6:00pm – 7:30pm \nCost is $80 \nStudents are highly encouraged to shoot and train outside of class and attend tournaments and pin shoots with other Center Shot Archery Academy students. \nRegistration is available to students who have previously participated in a JOAD 2 class. \nPersonal equipment is highly recommended but not required. SUMMARY:Archery Team - JOAD: Spring Session 2025
DESCRIPTION:The team is open to students that have previously been enrolled at the team level OR have achieved the listed prerequisites. \nCenter Shot Archery Academy* Team students are focused on competing in their chosen sport and taking their abilities to the next level – locally and nationally. Students have amazing opportunities as they travel\, meet archers from other teams\, and test their skills with various styles of tournaments. Parents/students must fill out an understanding of commitment form. Personal coaching and additional educational opportunities mean that students keep growing in proportion to the work they put in. \nAges 8 and over. Limited to 12 spots. $65/student \nPrerequisites:\n– Completion of at least one quarter of Archery 2 – JOAD\n– Advancement recommendation from student’s current Center Shot Archery Academy Coach\n– Demonstrate/name all steps of the NTS Shot Cycle\n– Own or be in the process of buying personal equipment \nStudent Requirements:\n– Committed to compete in 10 tournaments\n– 5 tournaments not located at the Outdoor Ed Center\n– 1 National Tournament\n– Membership in:\n– USA Archery\n– National Field Archery Association (NFAA)\n– Purchase of Center Shot Archery Academy jersey\n– Agreement to USA Archery Code of Conduct\, which includes no cheating\, no bad language\, and respectful behavior\n– Completion of Archer Agreement\, which includes understanding of full participation\, practice outside of class\, long-term absence policy\, and performance expectations. \nREGISTER HERE
