DESCRIPTION:Registration for the Outdoor Education Center’s Umbrella Match for handguns on August 19th & 23rd. This match will be offered on two dates – attend on whichever day works best for your schedule (Tuesday or Saturday). \nThis is a three-match series open to pistols from all manufacturers. The course of fire will be the same as the GSSF Indoor League Series. \nThis is the FINAL match for this series. Competitors must shoot in two out of the three available matches (June\, July\, August) to be eligible for prizes. \nCompetitors may shoot up to 6 divisions – Centerfire Stock\, Centerfire Unlimited\, Centerfire Single Stack/Revolver\, Rimfire Stock\, Rimfire Unlimited\, and Rimfire Revolver. For division descriptions\, see below. First entry is $20\, second is $10\, and third through sixth (each) is $5. Secondary entries in the same division are $5 each and only count as additional chances in the prize drawings. \nThis match will follow GSSF’s ‘Original’ course of fire for all Stock and Unlimited divisions and ‘Option E’ for Single Stack/Revolver divisions. For target\, distance\, rounds\, and timing specifications\, see PDF under More Information. \nSchedule: \nTuesday\, August 19th: Check in available starting at 1 pm; check in closes at 6:30 pm. \nSaturday\, August 23rd: Check in available starting at 8 am; check in closes at 11:30 am. \nPreregister to schedule a check in (squadding) time. DESCRIPTION:Second Shots Pistol is designed to build on the handgun skills introduced in our FIRST SHOTS course. It’s also a good refresher for those who are years out of practice. \nStudents learn more about ammunition\, loading a magazine\, clearing a pistol and locking the slide back\, and handling malfunctions. Plus\, students get the practical experience of loading and shooting a variety of handgun styles and calibers in the range. \nIn the range\, the basics of stance\, sight picture\, and trigger control are emphasized to maximize success. After completing this class\, participants will be prepared to safely use the range on their own. \nOverall\, Second Shots Pistol teaches the basic knowledge\, skills\, and attitude necessary for owning and using a handgun safely. The small class size allows students to ask questions and receive individual advice. \nCourse covers: \n\nHandgun knowledge & review safe handling\nReview fundamentals of handgun shooting\nAmmunition knowledge\nActual range practice\nA variety of pistols\, ammo\, and targets provided\n\nPlease bring your own eye and ear protection. \nIf you have your own pistol\, you may bring it to use on the range (be sure to bring 50 rounds of ammunition). \nClosed-neck shirts and closed-toe shoes are recommended. \nFor students age 16 and over. DESCRIPTION:Registration for the Outdoor Education Center’s Umbrella Match for handguns on August 19th & 23rd. This match will be offered on two dates – attend on whichever day works best for your schedule (Tuesday or Saturday). \nThis is a three-match series open to pistols from all manufacturers. The course of fire will be the same as the GSSF Indoor League Series. \nThis is the FINAL match for this series. Competitors must shoot in two out of the three available matches (June\, July\, August) to be eligible for prizes. \nCompetitors may shoot up to 6 divisions – Centerfire Stock\, Centerfire Unlimited\, Centerfire Single Stack/Revolver\, Rimfire Stock\, Rimfire Unlimited\, and Rimfire Revolver. For division descriptions\, see below. First entry is $20\, second is $10\, and third through sixth (each) is $5. Secondary entries in the same division are $5 each and only count as additional chances in the prize drawings. \nThis match will follow GSSF’s ‘Original’ course of fire for all Stock and Unlimited divisions and ‘Option E’ for Single Stack/Revolver divisions. For target\, distance\, rounds\, and timing specifications\, see PDF under More Information. \nSchedule: \nTuesday\, August 19th: Check in available starting at 1 pm; check in closes at 6:30 pm. \nSaturday\, August 23rd: Check in available starting at 8 am; check in closes at 11:30 am. \nPreregister to schedule a check in (squadding) time. Competitors will otherwise be squadded according to arrival time. \nPRIZES \nA top prize package that includes a pair of Bluetooth earmuffs\, an Annual Pass – Indoor Firearm Individual\, and range bag will be awarded in a random prize drawing after completion of all three matches. A ticket in the drawing will be generated for every competitor’s first division entry and/or secondary division entry\, once they have shot the same entry for a minimum of two out of the three matches. \nFor each division\, ONLY the first entry shot will be placed in each month’s match result rankings. Secondary division entries are not ranked and cannot replace a primary score. Join Education Program Specialist Rob Briwa in exploring the ways cultures across time and space perceive one of North America’s most adaptable species\, the coyote (Canis latrans). These perceptions – sometimes overlapping\, sometimes divergent\, and waxing and waning in their importance over time – entwine with human decision-making about wildlife management in unexpected ways.  \n  \nPresenter: Rob Briwa\, Education Program Specialist\, NPS- Homestead National Historical Park \n  \nPresenter Bio: Rob serves at Homestead NHP. His past NPS work includes ranger and education roles at Voyageurs and Theodore Roosevelt national parks and Mount Rushmore. Before the NPS\, Rob taught geography\, and he loves thinking through landscapes to elevate learning. \n  \nThis webinar is part of the Master Naturalist Mondays webinar series. Nebraska Master Naturalist is a statewide volunteer conservation program.  Our program recruits\, trains\, manages\, and provides resources for our volunteer naturalist members. We use four strategies to meet Nebraska’s conservation needs\, Habit Stewardship\, Community Science\, Environmental Education & Interpretation\, and Outdoor Recreation & Skills.   \n  \nThis free webinar series will host a variety of presenters and subject matter within these four conservation strategies. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the 10th anniversary Danish Alps State Recreation Area and Kramper Lake\, a northeast Nebraska fishing and camping gem\, on Saturday\, August 16th! \nWe invite you to join us for a community fishing event and other fun outdoor activities. Visitors can check out the new kayak launch and fish cleaning station\, enjoy the hiking trails\, and more! \nActivity Schedule\n9 a.m. – Organized trail ride by the Nebraska Horse Trails Committee \n11 a.m. – Brief ceremony \nNoon – Lunch: hamburgers\, brats\, sides & drink ($12 for ages 13+\, $8 for ages 12 and under; cash or credit card accepted) \nNoon to 3 p.m. – Free fishing activities (below)\, plus kayaking\, boat tours\, outdoor cooking demonstrations and more! \n1 p.m. – Fish shocking demonstration \n  \nFishing Activities\nFree loaner fishing equipment and bait will be available\, and instructors will be on hand to help. All participants 16 and older must have a valid Nebraska fishing license. Fishing activities will occur from noon to 3 p.m. and include: \nBasic fishing – Learn the basics of fishing\, with the help of instructors. \nBowfishing – Learn the basics of bowfishing equipment and techniques using fish targets. \nFly-fishing – Learn the basics of fly-fishing equipment and techniques before fly-fishing. \nKayak fishing – Learn the basics of kayak fishing equipment and techniques before going kayak fishing. \n  \nHosted by Nebraska Game and Parks Commission\, the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resource District and the Nebraska Horse Trails Committee\, this event is free and open to the public. \nA valid Nebraska state park vehicle permit is required for entry. \n
