Whether you’re an experienced tracker or just getting started\, this class will teach you how to identify animal tracks\, scat\, and signs left behind by wildlife during the colder months. By the end of the class\, you’ll have the skills to confidently identify tracks and signs\, gain a deeper understanding of animal behavior in winter\, and leave with the knowledge to track wildlife in your own backyard or local natural areas. For this series\, each match will be offered on two dates – attend on whichever day works best for your schedule (Tuesday or Saturday). \nThis is the FIRST match for this series. Competitors must shoot in two out of the three available matches (February\, March\, April) to be eligible for prizes. The second match will take place on March 18 & 22\, and the third on April 8 & 12. \nCompetitors may shoot up to 5 divisions – Stock\, Unlimited\, Pocket\, Rimfire\, and MOS. For division descriptions\, see below. First entry per date is $20\, second is $10\, third is $5\, fourth is $5\, and fifth is $5. DESCRIPTION:Second Shots Pistol is designed to build on the handgun skills introduced in our FIRST SHOTS course. It’s also a good refresher for those who are years out of practice. \nStudents learn more about ammunition\, loading a magazine\, clearing a pistol and locking the slide back\, and handling malfunctions. Plus\, students get the practical experience of loading and shooting a variety of handgun styles and calibers in the range. \nIn the range\, the basics of stance\, sight picture\, and trigger control are emphasized to maximize success. After completing this class\, participants will be prepared to safely use the range on their own. \nOverall\, Second Shots Pistol teaches the basic knowledge\, skills\, and attitude necessary for owning and using a handgun safely. The small class size allows students to ask questions and receive individual advice. \nCourse covers: \n\nHandgun knowledge & review safe handling\nReview fundamentals of handgun shooting\nAmmunition knowledge\nActual range practice\nA variety of pistols\, ammo\, and targets provided\n\nPlease bring your own eye and ear protection. \nIf you have your own pistol\, you may bring it to use on the range (be sure to bring 50 rounds of ammunition). \nClosed-neck shirts and closed-toe shoes are recommended. \nFor students age 16 and over. This includes admission to the Schramm Education Center after the program. Schramm Family Pass members participate free. This program is recommended for ages 5 and up. First Shots makes getting started in shooting very easy – and\, thanks to NSSF partnership*\, it’s only $10! \nAt a First Shots seminar\, you’ll receive:\n-An educational introduction to the safe and recreational use of firearms\n-Individual and group training\n-A rundown of shooting sports opportunities for all levels of interest\n-A chance to give shooting a try! \nThis seminar offers a small group setting for students ages 16 and over. SUMMARY:Little Saplings Nature Discovery Program
DESCRIPTION:Do you have a little one who loves animals\, nature\, and the outdoors? Are you looking for opportunities to explore the outdoors together with your children? Join us for Little Saplings\, Schramm Education Center’s early childhood nature discovery program. Little Saplings\, a monthly program designed for children ages 2 – 5 and their adult caregiver\, will bring nature themes to life for your child through story time\, sensory activities\, crafts\, and outdoor exploration! \nThe series is held on the first Wednesday of every month from 9 – 10 am and 10 – 11 am.  The cost to participate is $5 per child and $5 per adult per program and includes admission to the Education Center after the program. Schramm Family Pass members participate free. A State Park Vehicle Entry Permit is not required in the Schramm Education Center parking lot. SUMMARY:Hunter Education at Ponca State Park
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a combo firearm and bowhunter education course in the Resource and Education Center at Ponca State Park on Saturday\, Feb. 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday\, Feb. 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. \nThis Combination Course will provide instruction from knowledgeable and dedicated volunteer instructors in the safe use of firearm and archery equipment\, fundamentals of hunting\, shooting and hunting techniques\, game identification\, conservation management as well as hunter ethics. \nStudents 11 years of age and older on the examination day will be able to take the test and complete the course and may be issued certificates of successful completion of both Firearm and Bowhunter Education. \nREGISTER HERE \n  \nAge-Related Information\n-Any child under 11 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian every session; \n  \n-Those under 11 years of age will be required to complete the class in full following their 11th birthday. Online registration is only available to those ages 11 and older; \n  \n-At the first session\, everyone under 18 years of age must give the instructor a signed\, completed Parental Release Form (in event link) \n  \n-All students under 19 years of age should be accompanied by a parent/guardian to the first session to ensure appropriate information is received on dates\, sessions\, and additional requirements.
