Then join us for Nebraska’s Big Butterfly Count Virtual Training Workshop \nNebraska’s Big Butterfly Count is a community science project that is designed to collect statewide data in order to better understand butterfly diversity across Nebraska. During this virtual workshop you will learn about community science\, how to identify eastern/central Nebraska butterfly species\, and how you can contribute to Nebraska’s Big Butterfly Count. Participants will receive project resources\, guidance\, and support from community science project leaders. \nWe are looking for dedicated volunteers that are willing to conduct a survey at least once every other week\, from May 1st through September 30th. \n*Attendance on both dates and one associated field day is required to participate in this project* \nThis workshop is FREE to attend. For this series\, each match will be offered on two dates – attend on whichever day works best for your schedule (Tuesday or Saturday). \nThis is the THIRD AND FINAL match for this series. Competitors must shoot in two out of the three available matches (February\, March\, April) to be eligible for prizes. \nCompetitors may shoot up to 5 divisions – Stock\, Unlimited\, Pocket\, Rimfire\, and MOS. For division descriptions\, see below. First entry per date is $20\, second is $10\, third is $5\, fourth is $5\, and fifth is $5. Secondary entries in the same division are $5 each and only count as additional chances in the prize drawings. \nThis match will follow GSSF’s ‘Original’ course of fire for Stock\, Unlimited\, Rimfire\, and MOS and ‘Option E’ for Pocket. All matches are shot from a one-handed standing position. \nCompetitors may shoot up to three pistol matches – Free (.22) Pistol\, Standard (.22) Pistol\, and/or Air Pistol. First entry is $20\, second is $10\, and third is $5. This month’s Free and Standard Pistol Matches are official NRA Sectionals with an additional $5 per match competitor fee. A $5 discount will be applied for advance registrations received by Friday\, March 28. \nFor target\, distance\, rounds\, and timing summary\, see below. Complete event rules can be found here. \nSchedule: \nSaturday\, March 29th: Relays available from 8 am to 12 pm. DESCRIPTION:Join us at Ponca State Park for Marsh Madness! \nHave you ever experienced the whirlwinds of the snow geese? The courtship displays of the pintail? The living blanket of Canadian geese covering the ground? Migration season in the Northeast region on Nebraska is generally at its peak the last week of February and all of March. \nPonca State Park celebrates the migration season with Marsh Madness. Marsh Madness is an opportunity for individuals and families to witness a multitude of migratory waterfowl within the park during guided Avian Adventure Blind Viewing Sessions or unguided bird viewings. Common springtime sightings include Pintail\, teal\, snow geese\, white-fronted geese\, wood ducks\, mallards\, bald eagles\, and more. \nWith Ponca State Park’s location\, adjacent to the Missouri River\, it presents a significant flyway that serves as the feeding\, breeding and staging ground for migratory birds. \nGuided sunrise and sunset waterfowl blind viewings are scheduled every Saturday\, March 1st thru March 29th. SUMMARY:Learn to Hunt Safely Weekend
DESCRIPTION:A hunter education focused weekend designed to give women the chance to learn the basics of hunter safety and gain firsthand firearm and archery experience in a fun\, safe environment. Basic hunter education course material will be taught through simulated hunting situations\, live fire exercises\, education and responsibility activities. Workshops will be led by women who are experienced hunters and certified volunteer hunter education instructors. \nCheck-in it 3:00 PM on Friday\, March 28 and weekend concludes on Sunday\, March 30 at 1:00 PM. $125.00 fee includes lodging in a cabin at Platte River State Park\, meals and materials. \nRegistration Terms \n\nPreregistration and fee is due by March 14\, 2025.  Register here\nFemale participants ages 12 years and older\nFemale participants 18 years and younger are required to be accompanied by a participating adult the full weekend.\nAdditional information will be emailed to registered participants.\n\nHunter Education certificate will be given at the end of the weekend.

First Shots makes getting started in shooting very easy – and\, thanks to NSSF partnership*\, it’s only $10! \nAt a First Shots seminar\, you’ll receive:\n-An educational introduction to the safe and recreational use of firearms\n-Individual and group training\n-A rundown of shooting sports opportunities for all levels of interest\n-A chance to give shooting a try! \nThis seminar offers a small group setting for students ages 16 and over.
