SUMMARY:Kayak Clean up at Holmes Lake
DESCRIPTION:Join Nebraska Game & Parks outdoor educators and partners for a night of kayaking and cleaning up your local aquatic habitat. Because what’s good for wildlife is good for people too! \nBasic instruction will be given at the beginning of the event\, and all materials provided to those who register a kayak. You will be emailed prior to the event to confirm your registration and any needed details. \nWe will be providing trash bags & gloves for all those interested in helping to clean up trash while on the water.  We will meet at the boat ramp and dock on the south side of the lake on Holmes S. Shore Road. This area is right in the middle on the south side of the lake. On google maps it is identified as Holmes Lake Sailboat Races.  \nThis event is free and we welcome you to either borrow a kayak or bring your own! Rounds rotate weekly to provide experience across multiple formats\, helping archers prepare for competition or simply enjoy shooting with others.\n\nLeague nights are held on Thursdays at 6:00 PM\, beginning April 30. Participants will meet at the outdoor shooting tower before heading out in assigned groups to their starting targets on the field course.\n\nIf you are unable to attend Thursday league nights\, weekly targets will remain set for drop-in shooting during open hours (Friday through Tuesday\, sunrise to sunset). Archers may collect a scorecard and complete the round on their own time. DESCRIPTION:The 43rd Army Band of the Nebraska National Guard is comprised of citizen-soldiers from across the state of Nebraska. As part of its 2026 Annual Training\, the band will conduct a concert tour throughout north-central Nebraska. The unit includes several ensembles\, and the full concert band will perform at Fort Hartsuff on Thursday\, June 25\, at 7 p.m. The concert band presents a wide variety of concert literature and patriotic selections\, ranging from traditional to contemporary works\, designed to entertain audiences of all ages. \nThe concert will be held in the picnic area. Visitors are welcome to bring camp chairs\, blankets\, and picnic food and drinks to enjoy the evening outdoor concert. In case of inclement weather\, the concert will be moved into the barracks. \nFree admission. A valid state park vehicle permit is required for park entry. \n

DESCRIPTION:Join Ponca State Park Naturalists on the Corps of Discovery Trail to watch the moon rise!  \nMeet at the Riverfront Playground for guided hikes (approximately one hour) along the beautiful wooded trails. These hikes will include some steep inclines and are considered moderately challenging. Hikers are encouraged to bring water and snacks. \nHandheld flashlights will be provided. SUMMARY:4th of July Celebration at Fort Robinson
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the Fourth western-Nebraska-style\, with an outdoors barbecue set against the rugged\, epic backdrop of Fort Robinson State Park. This popular annual barbecue kicks off after Crawford’s town parade finishes around 11 a.m.\, leaving plenty of time for afternoon park activities like historical tours\, fishing and more! In the evening\, many participants head back into town for a rodeo and fireworks. \nEnjoy a hamburger\, baked beans\, potato salad and a drink for $12 per person. \nIn addition\, enjoy the annual Western and Wildlife Art Show at the Fort Robinson Veterinary Hospital. Open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 2-3 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 4. \nA valid state park vehicle permit is required for park entry.

DESCRIPTION:Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary by traveling back in time for Independence Day weekend at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park! Visitors will be able to glimpse the holiday activities that would have taken place at this 1820s era outpost.\n\n\nOngoing demonstrations featuring military and civilian life will occur throughout the park. Reenactors portray fur traders\, coopers\, blacksmiths\, carpenters\, tinsmiths\, weavers and other period trades. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the reenactors. \nSchedule\n10 a.m. – The Troop (Roll call\, inspection\, raise colours\, and morning gun) \n10:15 a.m. – History Trailer (west gate\, ongoing); Company Drill (flag pole\, ongoing) \n10:30 a.m.\, Saturday only – “Legacies of the American Revolution” by retired history professor and award-winning author\, Dr. Don Hickey (Visitor Center) \n10:30 a.m.\, Sunday only – Church at the North Barrack \n11 a.m. – Speeches and toast by Col. Leavenworth (Sutler Store) \nNoon – Officer’s Mess (West Barrack) \n12:15 p.m. – Ice Cream/Cobbler Social (near Council House) \n1:15 p.m. – Salute to the States & reading of the Declaration of Independence (Flag Pole) \n1:30 p.m. – “What happened to the signers?” presentation (Flag Pole) \n3 p.m. – Regimental Colors (Flag Pole) \n3:30 p.m. – Whiskey Ration (West Barrack) \n4 p.m. – The Retreat (Roll call\, Inspection\, Evening gun)\nFlag is lowered; Call in sentries–cease all challenging. DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION WILL OPEN SUNDAY\, FEBRUARY 15 @ NOON \nLearning how to prepare for adventures (expected or unexpected) without modern conveniences is a worthy challenge. This camp will teach participants essential skills that will come in handy when something doesn’t go according to plan\, or might be particularly fun to try on a camping trip. \nParticipants will gain knowledge useful for single day outdoor trips\, more extended hiking excursions\, and/or travel emergencies. \nTopics covered include fire building\, hunting skills\, outdoor cooking\, water resources\, hiking\, shelter building\, essential supplies\, and first aid. \nCampers may be dropped off as early as 8:00 am with camp activities starting at 8:30 am.
