DESCRIPTION:Join Ponca State Park’s Naturalist team for an evening all about nature! Meet at the Resource Center for different activities throughout the night. Guests are encouraged to participate in as many activities as they would like! Activities will be at staggered times throughout the evening\, located around the Resource Center. \n  \nActivity Schedule:\n6-7:30 p.m. – Owls\, Bats\, and Salamanders: Learn about some of Nebraska’s creatures of the night through educational activities and a craft! \n7-8:30 p.m. – Campfire Treats: Stop by our campfire to make some classic campfire favorite treats and to learn about fire building and safety! \n8 p.m. – Nature Trivia: Come test your nature knowledge with fun family trivia. Participants can be in teams of 1-5 people and must sign up their team before 8 p.m. Register by stopping into the main office. \n9-10 p.m. – Frog Calling: Hop on over to our nearby pond to discover which native frogs we have in Nebraska and listen to the songs they sing! \n9-10:30 p.m. – Moth Lighting: Check out our moth lighting station to catch and identify live insects we have in the park! \n  \nPlease call the park office at 402-755-2284 for more information. No registration required! \n  \n*There are costs for the campfire treats ($1) and for owl pellets ($2); all of the other programs are free. Reenactors will portray fur traders\, coopers\, blacksmiths\, carpenters\, tinsmiths\, weavers and other period trades outside of the fort walls. Other ongoing activities will include carpentry/log hewing at the southeast barrack. This match will be offered on two dates – attend on whichever day works best for your schedule (Tuesday or Saturday). \nThis is a three-match series open to pistols from all manufacturers. The course of fire will be the same as the GSSF Indoor League Series. \nThis is the FINAL match for this series. Competitors must shoot in two out of the three available matches (July\, August\, September) to be eligible for prizes. \nCompetitors may shoot up to 6 divisions – Centerfire Stock\, Centerfire Unlimited\, Centerfire Single Stack/Revolver\, Rimfire Stock\, Rimfire Unlimited\, and Rimfire Revolver. For division descriptions\, see below. First entry is $20\, second is $10\, and third through sixth (each) is $5. Rendezvous were historically held in the fall between fur traders and local Native American tribes and were a time to gather\, share trade goods such as skins\, furs\, beads\, food items\, weapons\, and knowledge. \nThroughout the event\, enjoy interactive educational activities with experts on Dutch oven cooking (peach cobbler)\, teepees\, chuck wagon 101\, trap setting\, gold mining\, black powder shooting\, quilting demonstrations and exhibit\, tomahawk throwing\, blacksmithing\, tin smithing\, wood working\, mini log cabin building\, a petting zoo\, trail rides\, food and craft vendors and more. \nSchool Days\nSchools are encouraged to sign up for field trips on Sept. 10 and Sept. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon Mountain Time. DESCRIPTION:Join Nebraska Game and Parks outdoor educators and partners for a night of kayaking and cleaning up your local aquatic habitat at Carter Lake in Omaha on Thursday\, Sept. 10. Because what’s good for wildlife is good for people too! \nWe will meet at the boat ramp on the Northeast side of the lake\, just off of Abbott Drive and E Carter Blvd. If you take directions to the airport from the south\, and turn left on to E Carter Blvd\, the boat ramp will be on your left. The general Carter Lake Address is 4405 Carter Lake Shore Dr W\, Omaha\, NE 68110.  \nBasic instruction will be given at the beginning of the event\, and all materials provided to those who register a kayak. You will be emailed prior to the event to confirm your registration and any needed details. \nThis event is free and we welcome you to either borrow a kayak or bring your own! DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Engineer Cantonment in Omaha for the sixth of a series of guided hikes as a part of this year’s Your Parks Adventure: Trail Trek program! \nFormer Nebraska State Archaeologist\, Rob Bozell\, will share the history or the Engineer Cantonment site as well as archaeological insights. Participants will walk to the site from the county road.  \nThis program will last approximately one hour. Length of walk is approximately one-quarter mile.  \nEngineer Cantonment is located .2 miles south of the intersection of County Road P51 and Bluebird Lane\, Omaha.  There is limited parking at the site and all others will need to safely park along side the road. Watch for yard signs with more information. \nThis program is in partnership with the Nebraska State Historical Society’s WanderNebraska program.

SUMMARY:Mystery at the Mansion - Murder Among Mateys
DESCRIPTION:After a voyage filled with pillaging and plundering\, the Jaded Jewel – Arbor Lodge Mansion turned pirate ship – is docked in a cove near Port Royal. The ship is captained by the dreaded Redbeard. As the pirates head into town to celebrate their homecoming and spend their gold\, a night of turmoil and trouble is sure to transpire. As the night quickly steers out of control\, one guest meets a tragic demise. Is the culprit the profiteering pirate organizing a mutiny? Or\, the saucy sea mistress? Could the perpetrator be the swashbuckling swordsman desperate to win the love of the governor’s daughter? Be among those who help get the guilty person to the gallows or walking the plank! \nParticipants will receive a character to portray as they arrive at Arbor Lodge Mansion. Wear your own pirate attire or select from our props. This event is family-friendly. \n$35/person. Space is limited. Purchase tickets here. Plan to arrive at the mansion by 5:45 p.m.
