Participants must be 10 years and older to operate a paddle craft. Those under age 10 are subject to instructor’s on-site approval based on life-jacket fit\, skill and/or ability to ride with a guardian while still under craft weight limit. \nThis event is free and open to all ages. Visitors will be able to glimpse the holiday activities that would have taken place at this 1820s era outpost.\n\n\nOngoing demonstrations featuring military and civilian life of the 1820s will occur throughout the park. Reenactors portray fur traders\, coopers\, blacksmiths\, carpenters\, tinsmiths\, weavers and other period trades. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the reenactors. \n\nVisitor Center Admission\n\n-Adults (13 & up): $5\n-Children 3-12: $1\n-2 and under: Free\n\nSchedule\n10 a.m. – The Troop (Roll call\, inspection\, raise colours\, and morning gun)\n10:15 a.m. – Prepare for Inspection (Flag Pole)\n10:30 a.m. – Military Drill (Flag Pole) \n10:30 a.m. – “The History of the United States Postal System” by Steve Jones (Visitor\nCenter)\n10:45 a.m. – Church Call (Sun. only\, School Room in the north barrack) \n11:30 a.m. – Dutch Oven Cooking (Near the Bake Oven)\nNoon – Assembly\, Noon Gun (Flag Pole)\n12:15 p.m. – Ice Cream Social (Near Council House)\n12:25 p.m. – Concert in the Park (Near Council House)\n1:30 p.m. – Salute to the States (Flag Pole)\n4 p.m. – The Retreat (Roll call\, Inspection\, Evening gun)\nFlag is lowered; Call in sentries–cease all challenging. Join Nebraska Game and Parks outdoor educators for a night of service to our local waters while kayaking.\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nSafety and basic instruction will be given at the beginning of the event. You will be emailed prior to the event to confirm your registration and any needed details.\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nWe will be providing trash bags and gloves for all those interested in helping to clean up trash while on the water. We will meet at the boat ramp and dock on the south side of the lake on Holmes S. Shore Road. This area is right in the middle on the south side of the lake. On Google maps\, it is identified as Holmes Lake Sailboat Races.\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nThis event is free and we welcome you to either borrow a kayak or bring your own! Due to limited kayak supply\, we do require registration. A valid state park permit is required for entry.
