DESCRIPTION:Registration for the Outdoor Education Center’s Umbrella Match for handguns on February 24 or 28. This match will be offered on two dates – attend on whichever day works best for your schedule (Tuesday or Saturday). \nThis is a three-match series open to pistols from all manufacturers. The course of fire will be the same as the GSSF Indoor League Series. \nThis is the FINAL match for this series. Competitors must shoot in two out of the three available matches (December\, January\, February) to be eligible for prizes. \nCompetitors may shoot up to 6 divisions – Centerfire Stock\, Centerfire Unlimited\, Centerfire Single Stack/Revolver\, Rimfire Stock\, Rimfire Unlimited\, and Rimfire Revolver. For division descriptions\, see below. First entry is $20\, second is $10\, and third through sixth (each) is $5. Secondary entries in the same division are $5 each and only count as additional chances in the prize drawings. \nThis match will follow GSSF’s ‘Original’ course of fire for all Stock and Unlimited divisions and ‘Option E’ for Single Stack/Revolver divisions. For target\, distance\, rounds\, and timing specifications\, see PDF under More Information. \nSchedule: \nTuesday\, February 24: Check in available starting at 1 pm; check in closes at 6:30 pm. \nSaturday\, February 28: Check in available starting at 9 am; check in closes at 11:30 am. \nPreregister to schedule a check in (squadding) time. Competitors will otherwise be squadded according to arrival time. \nPRIZES \nA top prize package that includes a pair of Bluetooth earmuffs\, an Annual Pass – Indoor Firearm Individual\, and range bag will be awarded in a random prize drawing after completion of all three matches. A ticket in the drawing will be generated for every competitor’s first division entry and/or secondary division entry\, once they have shot the same entry for a minimum of two out of the three matches. \nFor each division\, ONLY the first entry shot will be placed in each month’s match result rankings. Secondary division entries are not ranked and cannot replace a primary score. SUMMARY:Spring Archery League
DESCRIPTION:Add excitement and variety to your range practice by joining our indoor archery league! \nThe league will meet at 7 pm on Thursday evenings for 8 weeks\, February 12 – April 2. If you can’t make it one week\, feel free to drop in during the center’s open hours and shoot the round. All targets must be shot at the Outdoor Education Center. \nEach week will be a different round\, with scores recorded\, and a cumulative score for the series. Target face and distances will accord to each round’s rules for ages and bow style. \nBow styles will be:\nCompound\nBarebow / Traditional / Genesis (not NASP)\nRecurve\nNASP (will shoot a standard NASP round each week – up to 19 years old) \nIndividual prizes will be awarded by drawing ‘tickets’. Tickets are earned by attendance\, top score each week\, most overall improved\, and top overall score. The number of prizes awarded will depend on number of entries (minimum of 1 prize per 5 entries). Weekly top score tickets will be awarded for each bow style represented. Final cumulative scores tickets may involve combined divisions\, depending on participation. \nAges 8 and up. Previous archery experience required. \nParticipants without personal equipment may opt to use a rental bow (or if taking a class\, their class bow). \nSign up for all 8 weeks at once for $60 (20% discount for annual pass holders)\, or pay at the door for $9 per attendance. \nREGISTER NOW \nPlease call us at 402-471-6141 if you experience difficulty with registration.

SUMMARY:Fly Tying for Beginners at the Turpin Outdoor Education Center
DESCRIPTION:Anglers can learn the basics of fly tying that will prepare them to catch trout and panfish this spring. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and Cornhusker Fly Fishers will host fly-tying workshops March 4th and 8th at the Turpin Outdoor Education Center in Lincoln. \nRegister to attend on Wednesday\, March 4th from 6-8 p.m. here: March 4 Fly Tying Class \nCANCELLED. Register to attend on Sunday March 8th from 2-4 p.m. here: March 8 Fly Tying Class \nThe cost is $10 per class. Come to one or both sessions; each essentially will be the same. Different variations of flies will be introduced during each session. \nThe workshop\, which is open to new and experienced fly tiers\, will include all materials and tools needed. Reading glasses are recommended for up-close work. Participants will have the opportunity to tie four to six flies. They also will learn about community resources available to continue tying flies on their own.

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and Cornhusker Fly Fishers will host fly-tying workshops March 5th and 9th at the Turpin Outdoor Education Center in Lincoln. \nRegister to attend on Wednesday\, March 4th from 6-8 p.m. here: March 4 Fly Tying Class \nThe cost is $10 per class. Come to one or both sessions; each essentially will be the same. Different variations of flies will be introduced during each session. \nThe workshop\, which is open to new and experienced fly tiers\, will include all materials and tools needed. Reading glasses are recommended for up-close work. Participants will have the opportunity to tie four to six flies. They also will learn about community resources available to continue tying flies on their own.

All Open and all Bowhunter or Compound shoot on either the 40 cm Vegas three-spot target face with gold-red-blue (10-9-8-7-6) scoring areas or the 40 cm single-spot face with 10 through 1 scoring. \nShoot-offs among top 4 in each division/style (including Junior & Young Adult) will begin once the Vegas 450 round is complete. \nVertical three-spot targets will be used in shoot-offs for all Open bow styles except Barebow and Outlaw. Barebow and Outlaw shoot-offs may opt to use single-spot or vertical targets. \nAll divisions are coed and compete at 20 yards. \nREGISTER HERE

DESCRIPTION:Second Shots Pistol is designed to build on the handgun skills introduced in our FIRST SHOTS course. It’s also a good refresher for those who are years out of practice. \nStudents learn more about ammunition\, loading a magazine\, clearing a pistol and locking the slide back\, and handling malfunctions. Plus\, students get the practical experience of loading and shooting a variety of handgun styles and calibers in the range. \nIn the range\, the basics of stance\, sight picture\, and trigger control are emphasized to maximize success. After completing this class\, participants will be prepared to safely use the range on their own. \nOverall\, Second Shots Pistol teaches the basic knowledge\, skills\, and attitude necessary for owning and using a handgun safely. The small class size allows students to ask questions and receive individual advice. \nCourse covers: \n\nHandgun knowledge & review safe handling\nReview fundamentals of handgun shooting\nAmmunition knowledge\nActual range practice\nA variety of pistols\, ammo\, and targets provided\n\nPlease bring your own eye and ear protection. \nIf you have your own pistol\, you may bring it to use on the range (be sure to bring 50 rounds of ammunition). \nClosed-neck shirts and closed-toe shoes are recommended. \nFor students age 16 and over.
