DESCRIPTION:Hunters and landowners are encouraged to offer their feedback on big game issues during the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s public information meetings this winter. \nThese 2½ hour meetings\, which are scheduled in each Game and Parks district. All in-person meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. local time. \nThe first half hour will be an open house with time to talk with wildlife biologists\, conservation officers and staff. Biologists will make a presentation at 7 p.m. and discuss big game harvest results and season structure. DESCRIPTION:Looking for a good way to introduce your child to the lifelong habits of safe gun handling and the basic concepts of marksmanship? Whether your child is interested in recreation\, competition\, or hunting\, this class is where they need to be! Explore Rifle is a 4-week course designed for youth ages 8-10\, but open to those up to 15. Youth 7 & under are too young to participate. \nBB guns (.177 cal) used for all class exercises (equipment provided). Air guns are a tried-and-true non-threatening way to teach gun basics and a great building block to becoming a safe and competent shooter with larger caliber equipment. Parents/guardians are encouraged to stay and learn how to help guide their student. \nCost for 4-week series: $40/student \nParticipants must be preregistered; space may not be available for walk-in students. Class limited to 10 students only. \nCourse outline\nWeek 1A: Basic gun safety & intro to the gun/range; dry & live firing at target backs from bench position.\nWeek 2A: Gun/range safety continued; gun parts continued; intro to sight picture; live firing at 1 bull target from bench position.\nWeek 3A: Safety & gun parts review; shot placement; sight adjustment; live firing at 5 bull target from bench position.\nWeek 4A: Shooting for score & scoring targets; live firing at 10 bull targets from bench position. \nExplore Rifle is part one of a three part (12 weeks overall) curriculum. This match will be offered on two dates – attend on whichever day works best for your schedule (Tuesday or Saturday). \nThis is a three-match series open to pistols from all manufacturers. The course of fire will be the same as the GSSF Indoor League Series. \nThis is the second match for this series. Competitors must shoot in two out of the three available matches (December\, January\, February) to be eligible for prizes. February 24 & 28 are the scheduled dates for the third match. \nCompetitors may shoot up to 6 divisions – Centerfire Stock\, Centerfire Unlimited\, Centerfire Single Stack/Revolver\, Rimfire Stock\, Rimfire Unlimited\, and Rimfire Revolver. For division descriptions\, see below. First entry is $20\, second is $10\, and third through sixth (each) is $5. SUMMARY:Second Shots Pistol
DESCRIPTION:Second Shots Pistol is designed to build on the handgun skills introduced in our FIRST SHOTS course. It’s also a good refresher for those who are years out of practice. \nStudents learn more about ammunition\, loading a magazine\, clearing a pistol and locking the slide back\, and handling malfunctions. Plus\, students get the practical experience of loading and shooting a variety of handgun styles and calibers in the range. \nIn the range\, the basics of stance\, sight picture\, and trigger control are emphasized to maximize success. After completing this class\, participants will be prepared to safely use the range on their own. \nOverall\, Second Shots Pistol teaches the basic knowledge\, skills\, and attitude necessary for owning and using a handgun safely. The small class size allows students to ask questions and receive individual advice. \nCourse covers: \n\nHandgun knowledge & review safe handling\nReview fundamentals of handgun shooting\nAmmunition knowledge\nActual range practice\nA variety of pistols\, ammo\, and targets provided\n\nPlease bring your own eye and ear protection. \nIf you have your own pistol\, you may bring it to use on the range (be sure to bring 50 rounds of ammunition). \nClosed-neck shirts and closed-toe shoes are recommended. \nFor students age 16 and over. SUMMARY:Big Game Meeting - Alma
DESCRIPTION:Hunters and landowners are encouraged to offer their feedback on big game issues during the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s public information meetings this winter. \nThese 2½ hour meetings\, which are scheduled in each Game and Parks district. All in-person meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. local time. \nThe first half hour will be an open house with time to talk with wildlife biologists\, conservation officers and staff. Biologists will make a presentation at 7 p.m. and discuss big game harvest results and season structure. SUMMARY:Umbrella Match for Handguns Winter 2026 - Match 2
DESCRIPTION:Registration for the Outdoor Education Center’s Umbrella Match for handguns on January 13 or 17. This match will be offered on two dates – attend on whichever day works best for your schedule (Tuesday or Saturday). \nThis is a three-match series open to pistols from all manufacturers. The course of fire will be the same as the GSSF Indoor League Series. \nThis is the second match for this series. Competitors must shoot in two out of the three available matches (December\, January\, February) to be eligible for prizes. February 24 & 28 are the scheduled dates for the third match. \nCompetitors may shoot up to 6 divisions – Centerfire Stock\, Centerfire Unlimited\, Centerfire Single Stack/Revolver\, Rimfire Stock\, Rimfire Unlimited\, and Rimfire Revolver. For division descriptions\, see below. First entry is $20\, second is $10\, and third through sixth (each) is $5. Secondary entries in the same division are $5 each and only count as additional chances in the prize drawings. \nThis match will follow GSSF’s ‘Original’ course of fire for all Stock and Unlimited divisions and ‘Option E’ for Single Stack/Revolver divisions. \nSchedule: \nTuesday\, January 13: Check in available starting at 1 pm; check in closes at 6:30 pm. \nSaturday\, January 17: Check in available starting at 9 am; check in closes at 11:30 am. \nPreregister to schedule a check in (squadding) time.
