DESCRIPTION:Join us for the 9th annual Crofton’s Dam Race at scenic Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area in northeast Nebraska! \nChoose your adventure between three events: \n1)   A sprint triathlon with kayaking instead of swimming\, \n2)   a half marathon\, \n3)   or a 12-mile bike race. \nParticipants must be 14 years or older. The triathlon can be done individually with teams. \nTriathlon – Kayak 1.5 miles on Lewis and Clark Lake\, run 5K through the Weigand campground and bike 12 miles along the rolling hills overlooking the lake. \nBike race – It’s less of a race and more like a 12-mile scenic ride. DESCRIPTION:In celebration of National Moth Week\, educators from Nebraska Extension and Nebraska Game and Parks will lead a moth lighting at Schramm Park State Recreation Area. Bring a flashlight\, search for moths at the light trap\, and learn about moths and other nocturnal insects in Nebraska. We will use the iNaturalist app to document the species we encounter and collect data about nocturnal insects in the park. Data collected during this event will contribute to the Biodiversity in Nebraska State Parks initiative.\n**Collection of insects at this event is not permitted.**\n\nMeet at the park shelter next to pond A. A state park vehicle entry permit is required for vehicles entering the park. Visitors may also park in the parking lot of the Schramm Education Center (no permit required) and walk to the park shelter.\n\nAccommodation requests for attendance may be directed to Kait Chapman at least two weeks prior to the program at kchapman13@unl.edu or 402-441-7180. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet access needs.

Those wanting to be on a waiting list can fill out the registration and we will contact you should an opening become available.  \nGet ready to go birding by participating in the Birds of a Feather program at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park’s newly renovated James Family Conservatory and Nature Center. \nThis is a program is intended for elementary-aged youth and chaperones. We introduce a different birding topic each session to begin the program. When weather permits\, we will head outdoors for a hike or time in the birding area. The program runs approximately 60-90 minutes and is offered on select Tuesdays at 10 a.m. \nRegistration for these events in required. This family-oriented activity introduces participants to the cultural and natural history of our area trails\, lakes and natural resources.\n\nA park permit or day pass is required for this event.\n\nWe usually walk an average of 1 mile round trip. Each Moon Walk starts with a short introduction to the night’s program\, then we hike to a designated area where we enjoy presentations. Presenters are experts in their field and are from our local community. The evening wraps up with FREE smores! Most Moon Walks last from 1-2 hours. There is limited restroom availability. Dress in layers because the weather at the location may be different than it is in town. Pack water and snacks for the return trip. Bring a flashlight for cloudy nights and don’t forget the bug spray!\n\nAll Moon Walk times and places are subject to change dueto the weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

These hikes will include some steep inclines and are considered moderately challenging. Hikers are encouraged to bring water and snacks. \nHandheld flashlights will be provided.
