DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Fort Hartsuff with a recreation of the 1875 Grand Thanksgiving Ball! On Saturday\, Nov. 15 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.\, the Enlisted Men’s Barracks will be cleared out and decorated for a period-correct catered light supper\, music\, and dancing. \nDaytime activities will also be happening ahead of the event\, including dance rehearsal\, a shooting demonstration\, and more. The front desk\, gift shop and historical buildings will be open from noon to 4 p.m. \nDaytime festivities are open to the public with paid admission: $5 (ages 13 and up)\, $1 (ages 3-12)\, no charge under 3. A valid vehicle park entry permit is required. \n  \nDaytime Activities\n12:30-2:30: Military Marksmanship and Civilian Shooting Competitions – Watch reenactors engage in live-fire historical marksmanship and competitive shooting. DESCRIPTION:Fly-tying is the art of attaching materials such as feathers\, thread\, metal\, beads and more to a hook\, with the aim of imitating an insect or small prey. Fly tying is a great way to add to your tackle box\, express creativity and to have another excuse to go fishing. \nYou’ll work with the Cornhusker Fly-Fishers as you make a fly of your own to take home. Stop into the lobby of the Schramm Education Center anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday\, Nov. 22 to give a fly a try! \nThis event is free and open to the public.

DESCRIPTION:Have you ever stumbled upon animal bones while exploring nature and wondered “what could I make out of these?” “Is it ethical to take bones from the environment?” “What animal did these belong to and what story do they tell?”\n\n\nIf the answer is yes\, then this FREE workshop is for you!\n\n\n\nJoin us on November 22\, 2025 | 1-4PM at Spring Creek Prairie and learn about an array of topics from death and decay\, ethics of bone collecting\, and the basics of animal bone identification.\n\n\nParticipants will also get a crash course in the owls of Nebraska\, dissect an owl pellet for bones\, and create some bonecrafts to take home!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSupplies will be provided\, but you are welcome to BYOB (Bring Your Own Bones)\n*Please refrain from bringing bones from birds of prey\, songbirds\, or threatened/endangered species.\n\n\n\n**Due to limited supplies\, registration is required to attend. DESCRIPTION:Mondays in November\, you are invited to join in an evening of archery FOR women\, taught by women. \nChoose from a four-week intro class or ‘next-level’ practice and coaching section\, depending on your comfort with the material. \nThe intro section features a lesson and time on the archery range practicing with a bow each week. Class goes from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. \nThe ‘next-level’ practice and coaching section is a time for women to hone their archery skills and receive individual coaching. Coaching will be available from 5:00-6:30 pm and has a flexible arrival time. \nThe sessions will be taught at an indoor archery facility and space is limited. \n$40/participant\, ages 16+ \nAll equipment is provided\, but if you have your own you are welcome to bring it. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Holiday Tree Decorating Contest at Lewis and Clark SRA
DESCRIPTION:Put your tree decorating skills to the test for a chance to win a two-night cabin stay at Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area near Crofton! \nThe 6th annual tree decorating contest is open Nov. 27 through Dec. 28\, 2025 with judging to occur Jan. 2; one winner will claim the prize two-night cabin stay. The second price winner will receive $100 in Game and Parks bucks. \nContestants\, limited to household units\, may decorate one tree along the park’s entrance driveway. \nContestants are encouraged to use environmentally friendly decorations\, such as popcorn garland\, solar powered lights\, bird seed pine cones\, wildlife-friendly decorations and more. \nThen take a photo of the decorated tree and send it to ngpc.lewis.clark@nebraska.gov. \nAll decorations that are not wildlife friendly must be removed by Jan. 11. \nPlease contact the park office at 402-388-4169 with any questions. \nA valid Nebraska state park vehicle permit is required for park entry.
