DESCRIPTION:Registration for the Outdoor Education Center’s Umbrella Match for handguns on February 24 or 28. This match will be offered on two dates – attend on whichever day works best for your schedule (Tuesday or Saturday). \nThis is a three-match series open to pistols from all manufacturers. The course of fire will be the same as the GSSF Indoor League Series. \nThis is the FINAL match for this series. Competitors must shoot in two out of the three available matches (December\, January\, February) to be eligible for prizes. \nCompetitors may shoot up to 6 divisions – Centerfire Stock\, Centerfire Unlimited\, Centerfire Single Stack/Revolver\, Rimfire Stock\, Rimfire Unlimited\, and Rimfire Revolver. For division descriptions\, see below. First entry is $20\, second is $10\, and third through sixth (each) is $5. Secondary entries in the same division are $5 each and only count as additional chances in the prize drawings. \nThis match will follow GSSF’s ‘Original’ course of fire for all Stock and Unlimited divisions and ‘Option E’ for Single Stack/Revolver divisions. SUMMARY:Spring Archery League
DESCRIPTION:Add excitement and variety to your range practice by joining our indoor archery league! \nThe league will meet at 7 pm on Thursday evenings for 8 weeks\, February 12 – April 2. If you can’t make it one week\, feel free to drop in during the center’s open hours and shoot the round. All targets must be shot at the Outdoor Education Center. \nEach week will be a different round\, with scores recorded\, and a cumulative score for the series. Target face and distances will accord to each round’s rules for ages and bow style. \nBow styles will be:\nCompound\nBarebow / Traditional / Genesis (not NASP)\nRecurve\nNASP (will shoot a standard NASP round each week – up to 19 years old) \nIndividual prizes will be awarded by drawing ‘tickets’. Tickets are earned by attendance\, top score each week\, most overall improved\, and top overall score. The number of prizes awarded will depend on number of entries (minimum of 1 prize per 5 entries). Weekly top score tickets will be awarded for each bow style represented. Final cumulative scores tickets may involve combined divisions\, depending on participation. \nAges 8 and up. DESCRIPTION:Experience the natural wonder of the sharp-tailed grouse mating dance from a grouse viewing blind at Niobrara State Park! This sunrise ritual is an ancient and glorious display from one of Nebraska’s most famous grassland birds. \nReservations\nReserve the viewing blind (free of charge) any time between March 1 and May 1\, with peak viewing between March 7 and April 20. The large trailer blind can hold up to 12 guests (up to 10 comfortably). In addition\, there are two small pop-up\nblinds available upon request for those with bigger cameras and camera stands that won’t fit in the trailer blind. Those wanting to be on a waiting list can fill out the registration and we will contact you should an opening become available.  \nGet ready to go birding by participating in the Birds of a Feather program at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park’s newly renovated James Family Conservatory and Nature Center. \nThis is a program is intended for elementary-aged youth and chaperones. We introduce a different birding topic each session to begin the program. When weather permits\, we will head outdoors for a hike or time in the birding area. The program runs approximately 60-90 minutes and is offered on select Tuesdays at 10 a.m. \nRegistration for these events in required. DESCRIPTION:Add excitement and variety to your range practice by joining our indoor archery league! \nThe league will meet at 7 pm on Thursday evenings for 8 weeks\, February 12 – April 2. If you can’t make it one week\, feel free to drop in during the center’s open hours and shoot the round. All targets must be shot at the Outdoor Education Center. \nEach week will be a different round\, with scores recorded\, and a cumulative score for the series. Target face and distances will accord to each round’s rules for ages and bow style. \nBow styles will be:\nCompound\nBarebow / Traditional / Genesis (not NASP)\nRecurve\nNASP (will shoot a standard NASP round each week – up to 19 years old) \nIndividual prizes will be awarded by drawing ‘tickets’. Tickets are earned by attendance\, top score each week\, most overall improved\, and top overall score. The number of prizes awarded will depend on number of entries (minimum of 1 prize per 5 entries). Weekly top score tickets will be awarded for each bow style represented. Final cumulative scores tickets may involve combined divisions\, depending on participation. \nAges 8 and up. The living blanket of Canadian geese covering the ground? Migration season in the Northeast region on Nebraska is generally at its peak the last week of February and all of March. \nPonca State Park celebrates the migration season with Marsh Madness. Marsh Madness is an opportunity for individuals and families to witness a multitude of migratory waterfowl within the park during guided Avian Adventure Blind Viewing Sessions or unguided bird viewings. Common springtime sightings include Pintail\, teal\, snow geese\, white-fronted geese\, wood ducks\, mallards\, bald eagles\, and more. \nWith Ponca State Park’s location\, adjacent to the Missouri River\, it presents a significant flyway that serves as the feeding\, breeding and staging ground for migratory birds. \nGuided sunset waterfowl blind viewings are scheduled every Saturday\, March 7 thru March 28. DESCRIPTION:Anglers can learn the basics of fly tying that will prepare them to catch trout and panfish this spring. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and Cornhusker Fly Fishers will host fly-tying workshops March 5th and 9th at the Turpin Outdoor Education Center in Lincoln. \nRegister to attend on Wednesday\, March 4th from 6-8 p.m. here: March 4 Fly Tying Class \nThe cost is $10 per class. Come to one or both sessions; each essentially will be the same. Different variations of flies will be introduced during each session. \nThe workshop\, which is open to new and experienced fly tiers\, will include all materials and tools needed. Reading glasses are recommended for up-close work. Participants will have the opportunity to tie four to six flies. They also will learn about community resources available to continue tying flies on their own.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission in a virtual discussion on fisheries management during meetings March 9-11. \nThese six public informational sessions – one for each of the five Game and Parks Fisheries district plus a statewide and aquatic habitat program session – will provide updates for the respective areas. The informal\, interactive gatherings will provide a chance for questions\, dialogue and feedback. \nThe virtual meetings will take place on Zoom\, a free app that can be downloaded to a web browser or mobile device.
