SUMMARY:Little Saplings Nature Discovery Program
DESCRIPTION:Do you have a little one who loves animals\, nature\, and the outdoors? Are you looking for opportunities to explore the outdoors together with your children? Join us for Little Saplings\, Schramm Education Center’s early childhood nature discovery program. Little Saplings\, a monthly program designed for children ages 2 – 5 and their adult caregiver\, will bring nature themes to life for your child through story time\, sensory activities\, crafts\, and outdoor exploration! \nThe series is held on the first Wednesday of every month from 9 – 10 am and 10 – 11 am.  The cost to participate is $5 per child and $5 per adult per program and includes admission to the Education Center after the program. Schramm Family Pass members participate free. A State Park Vehicle Entry Permit is not required in the Schramm Education Center parking lot. Gather a team and join us in the Schramm Education Center classroom for a fun-filled\, educational morning complete with a prize for the winning team. After our friendly competition\, we’ll roast marshmallows on the outdoor patio.\n\nCost: $5 per person\, which includes the trivia program\, access to the education center after the program\, and marshmallow roasting. Pack a lunch and make a day of it: the Treehouse Classroom will also be open until 2 pm.

DESCRIPTION:Join us February 14 from 10 am – 12:30 pm and enjoy the revitalizing fresh air of a winter’s day on a trail at Schramm State Recreation Area. Hike the trail with BOW as we view wildlife and other beautiful scenes. The trail will take us to a campfire ring to warm up and bake Dutch oven pies. Hike to pie turns into a PIKE!

DESCRIPTION:Homeschool Hikes is a monthly nature exploration program hosted by the Schramm Education Center geared towards homeschool families. Each month\, families can join a naturalist for a guided hike on the Schramm Park State Recreation Area hiking trails. During the program\, participants will ask questions\, draw\, observe\, and make discoveries in nature. Participants will have the opportunity to observe local phenomena\, plants\, and animals while exploring concepts such as patterns\, cause and effect\, and structure and function. \nThe cost to participate is $5 per person per program (adult and children are same price). This includes admission to the Schramm Education Center after the program. Schramm Family Pass members participate free. This program is recommended for ages 5 and up. Please register in advance so we can estimate attendance numbers: https://arcg.is/1HO45W0 . \nParticipants should dress in season-appropriate layers and wear closed-toed shoes that can get dirty. Hats and water bottles are recommended. The day of the program\, come to the Schramm Education Center and check in and pay at the front desk upon arrival. \nDates and topics for the first half of 2026 are as follows.
