SUMMARY:Little Saplings Nature Discovery Program
DESCRIPTION:Do you have a little one who loves animals\, nature\, and the outdoors? Are you looking for opportunities to explore the outdoors together with your children? Join us for Little Saplings\, Schramm Education Center’s early childhood nature discovery program. Little Saplings\, a monthly program designed for children ages 2 – 5 and their adult caregiver\, will bring nature themes to life for your child through story time\, sensory activities\, crafts\, and outdoor exploration! \nThe series is held on the first Wednesday of every month from 9 – 10 am and 10 – 11 am.  The cost to participate is $5 per child and $5 per adult per program and includes admission to the Education Center after the program. Schramm Family Pass members participate free. A State Park Vehicle Entry Permit is not required in the Schramm Education Center parking lot. SUMMARY:Monarch Conservation Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Calling all community scientists! Join us at Schramm Education Center on Saturday\, June 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. to learn all about monarch conservation during this workshop in partnership with Monarch Joint Venture. \nDOWNLOAD WORKSHOP AGENDA \nDuring this free workshop\, you will explore various methods for assessing monarch habitat\, with a special focus on the Integrated Monarch Monitoring Program (IMMP)—a nationwide protocol designed for tracking monarch and pollinator populations.   \nThe IMMP offers flexible options for monitoring nectar plants\, milkweed\, monarch reproduction\, and adult monarch activity\, while also facilitating data sharing among stakeholders.   \nAdditionally\, we will discuss best management practices for maintaining monarch habitat and address any questions you have about monarch conservation in Nebraska.  \nInterested participants must REGISTER HERE (select the June 14 event). \n  \n

SUMMARY:Pollinator Party at Schramm
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Nebraska pollinators at the Schramm Pollinator Party! The Schramm Education Center will be hosting a Pollinator Party event in partnership with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Bee Lab\, Nebraska Extension\, the UNL Entomology Department\, and the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. This free\, annual event is part of a statewide celebration of Nebraska Pollinator Week. Activities for all ages will be set up outside and in the Schramm Education Center Classroom. At this event\, you can:\n• See live honey bees\, bumble bees\, monarch butterflies in different life stages\, and other live insects\n• Help collect and document insects on the Schramm prairie and pollinator gardens using the iNaturalist app to contribute to the Biodiversity in State Parks project\n• Buy native plants at a plant sale hosted by the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum\n• Learn about how art and science work together from the Great Plains Chapter of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators\n• Make pollinator crafts and play pollinator games\n• Extract and bottle your own honey for purchase\n• Meet a Nebraska Extension Master Gardener and Nebraska Extension Entomologist to get your garden and urban entomology questions answered\n• Make a native seed ball to take home\n• Participate in a pollinator art scavenger hunt\n• Food will be available for purchase\n• And more!\nAttend to help celebrate pollinators in Nebraska\, learn more about pollination and pollinators\, and explore how you can help local pollinators.
