The Atlas is a community science project aiming to track and conserve bumble bees in the state. Anyone is welcome to join the Atlas\, no experience is needed\, just a drive to help conserve pollinators! \nDuring this event\, participants will gain hands-on experience with the Atlas protocol\, including netting\, chilling\, and photographing bees\, as well as data recording/entry. The Atlas uses non-lethal survey methods\, so no bees are harmed during the project. The training will take place outside\, so please bring water\, closed-toed shoes\, and sun protection. The Atlas is a collaboration between Xerces Society and Nebraska Game and Parks Commission. \nRegistration is required. REGISTER HERE \nWe will meet at the picnic tables outside of the Nature Center. A state park permit is required for entry.

DESCRIPTION:Are you interested becoming a community scientist and helping conserve Nebraska’s rare\, at-risk butterflies? If so\, please join Nebraska Game and Parks Commission wildlife biologists on Saturday\, June 7 at Homestead National Historical Park to learn how to participate in the monarch and regal fritillary community science project. Help us collect valuable data about these at-risk species in the state. This training will occur directly after the Homestead Insect Bioblitz taking place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. View this event flyer for more details about the Bioblitz. \nThe training will begin with a presentation at 1:30 p.m.\, followed by a mock survey. During this extensive training\, you will learn how to walk an assigned transect\, count butterflies\, and assess habitat features. Master naturalists gain a network of peers with shared interests and receive unique continuing education experiences focused on nature and conservation. They also are invited to volunteer in a variety of education\, stewardship\, community science and recreation opportunities around the state. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Nebraska pollinators at the Schramm Pollinator Party! The Schramm Education Center will be hosting a Pollinator Party event in partnership with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Bee Lab\, Nebraska Extension\, the UNL Entomology Department\, and the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. This free\, annual event is part of a statewide celebration of Nebraska Pollinator Week. Activities for all ages will be set up outside and in the Schramm Education Center Classroom.
