SUMMARY:Fort Atkinson Candlelight Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the annual Fort Atkinson Candlelight Tour on Saturday\, Nov. 7! This year’s theme is “Elysian Fields”. Will the 6th Infantry be leaving their “Elysian Fields”? What are the signs that the Fort may be abandoned in the year of our Lord\, 1827? \nThis unique walking tour by candlelight among the historic buildings and around the grounds will take approximately one and a half hours. Each stop along the way will reveal another part of the evening’s theme\, which is based on actual events. \nPlease wear walking shoes and warm clothing. No flash photography\, no flashlights or pets will be allowed during the tour. Refreshments will be served after the tour. \n  \nReservations\nBecause space is limited\, reservations/tickets are required. \nRESERVE A SPOT \nTickets: $20 (adult)\, $15 (seniors and children 12 & under) \nYou may pay for your tickets via mail or a Square invoice (information will be emailed after your reservations are made). Non-refundable payments must be received within 10 days to confirm reservations. All proceeds will help support the Living History program at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park. \nTickets include a complementary pass to the Harold Anderson Visitor’s Center. \n  \nProceeds will help support the Living History Program at Fort Atkinson State Historical Park. \nA valid state park entry permit is required for each vehicle.

SUMMARY:PIKE: Naturalist-Led Hike at Ponca State Park
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a monthly PIKE — a Naturalist-led group hike — at beautiful Ponca State Park! \nMeet at the West Shelter at 10 a.m. and enjoy the scenic views\, native wildlife\, and fellowship until 12:30 p.m. Along the way\, Naturalists will talk about the cultural and natural history of the park and the flora and fauna found in the area. The trail will end with a warm fire and fresh baked dessert in a dutch oven. A perfect mix of fresh air\, nature\, and a sweet treat! \nCost: $15 per person (card only) \nPRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED – Spots are limited and you must pre-register and pay by calling the park office at 402-755-2284. PIKEs are currently scheduled every second Saturday from Jan. 10 to Dec. 12\, 2026. \nA valid Nebraska state park vehicle permit is required for entry and can be purchased at the park entrance or online.

DESCRIPTION:Looking to get outdoors and volunteer? Schramm Park SRA holds regular volunteer opportunities to assist with land management efforts. Join NGPC staff as we work on activities such as invasive species removal\, seed collection\, trail maintenance\, brush piling\, and tree planting.\nRegister in advance if plan to attend so we can estimate head count for work materials: https://arcg.is/H1L5S2\nWear sturdy\, closed-toed shoes and long pants\, bring water\, and outdoor work/garden gloves. Long sleeves are also recommended. All ages are welcome for this opportunity\, but anyone under the age of 18 must have an accompanying adult.\nMeet at the park shelter next to Pond A. We’ll kick things off with an introduction to the project at the posted start time and then get started. Volunteers will need to sign a standard volunteer waiver upon arrival. We are meeting in the park\, so a state park vehicle permit is required.
