DESCRIPTION:Join us at Ponca State Park for Marsh Madness! \nHave you ever experienced the whirlwinds of the snow geese? The courtship displays of the pintail? The living blanket of Canadian geese covering the ground? Migration season in the Northeast region on Nebraska is generally at its peak the last week of February and all of March. \nPonca State Park celebrates the migration season with Marsh Madness. Marsh Madness is an opportunity for individuals and families to witness a multitude of migratory waterfowl within the park during guided Avian Adventure Blind Viewing Sessions or unguided bird viewings. Common springtime sightings include Pintail\, teal\, snow geese\, white-fronted geese\, wood ducks\, mallards\, bald eagles\, and more. \nWith Ponca State Park’s location\, adjacent to the Missouri River\, it presents a significant flyway that serves as the feeding\, breeding and staging ground for migratory birds. \nGuided sunset waterfowl blind viewings are scheduled every Saturday\, March 7 thru March 28. Meet outside the Resource and Education Center. \nRegistration required: Pre-register for the guided tours by calling the park at 402-755-2284\, as space is limited. \nMeeting times\nMarch 7 at 5 p.m. \nMarch 14 at 6 p.m. \nMarch 21 at 6:15 p.m. \nMarch 28 at 6:15 p.m. \n  \nA valid state park vehicle permit is required for park entry.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a monthly PIKE — a Naturalist-led group hike — at beautiful Ponca State Park! \nMeet at the West Shelter at 10 a.m. and enjoy the scenic views\, native wildlife\, and fellowship until 12:30 p.m. Along the way\, Naturalists will talk about the cultural and natural history of the park and the flora and fauna found in the area. The trail will end with a warm fire and fresh baked dessert in a dutch oven. A perfect mix of fresh air\, nature\, and a sweet treat! \nCost: $15 per person (card only) \nPRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED – Spots are limited and you must pre-register and pay by calling the park office at 402-755-2284. SUMMARY:Marsh Madness at Ponca State Park
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Ponca State Park for Marsh Madness! \nHave you ever experienced the whirlwinds of the snow geese? The courtship displays of the pintail? The living blanket of Canadian geese covering the ground? Migration season in the Northeast region on Nebraska is generally at its peak the last week of February and all of March. \nPonca State Park celebrates the migration season with Marsh Madness. Marsh Madness is an opportunity for individuals and families to witness a multitude of migratory waterfowl within the park during guided Avian Adventure Blind Viewing Sessions or unguided bird viewings. Common springtime sightings include Pintail\, teal\, snow geese\, white-fronted geese\, wood ducks\, mallards\, bald eagles\, and more. \nWith Ponca State Park’s location\, adjacent to the Missouri River\, it presents a significant flyway that serves as the feeding\, breeding and staging ground for migratory birds. \nGuided sunset waterfowl blind viewings are scheduled every Saturday\, March 7 thru March 28. Meet outside the Resource and Education Center. \nRegistration required: Pre-register for the guided tours by calling the park at 402-755-2284\, as space is limited. \nMeeting times\nMarch 7 at 5 p.m. \nMarch 14 at 6 p.m. \nMarch 21 at 6:15 p.m. \nMarch 28 at 6:15 p.m. \n  \nA valid state park vehicle permit is required for park entry.

DESCRIPTION:Looking to get outdoors and volunteer? Schramm Park SRA holds regular volunteer opportunities to assist with oak woodland restoration efforts. Join NGPC staff as we work on activities such as invasive species removal\, seed collection\, trail maintenance\, brush piling\, and tree planting.\nRegister in advance if plan to attend so we can estimate head count for work materials: https://arcg.is/H1L5S2\nWear sturdy\, closed-toed shoes and long pants\, bring water\, and outdoor work/garden gloves. Long sleeves are also recommended. All ages are welcome for this opportunity\, but anyone under the age of 18 must have an accompanying adult.\nMeet at the park shelter next to Pond A. We’ll kick things off with an introduction to the project at the posted start time and then get started. Volunteers will need to sign a standard volunteer waiver upon arrival. We are meeting in the park\, so a state park vehicle permit is required.

DESCRIPTION:Experience the natural wonder of the sharp-tailed grouse mating dance from a grouse viewing blind at Niobrara State Park! This sunrise ritual is an ancient and glorious display from one of Nebraska’s most famous grassland birds. \nReservations\nReserve the viewing blind (free of charge) any time between March 1 and May 1\, with peak viewing between March 7 and April 20. The large trailer blind can hold up to 12 guests (up to 10 comfortably). In addition\, there are two small pop-up\nblinds available upon request for those with bigger cameras and camera stands that won’t fit in the trailer blind. Blinds are first come\, first serve by reservation only.
