Wildcat Hills Homeschool Program

October 17 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

The Wildcat Hills homeschool programs will meet once a month at 10 a.m. MT at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center. Certified staff will lead various programs each month that will showcase a different theme; focusing on ecosystems, animals, adaptations, and habitats found only in western Nebraska. Activities will focus hands-on learning and observations, targeted to your students’ learning.

A valid Nebraska Game and Park Entry Permit will be required for this FREE program. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Staff reserves the right to cancel or reschedule programs due to unforeseen circumstances.

September 19, 2024- Feathered Friends!:Come along and discover all about our bird friends! Learn all about their adaptations and local research projects being conducted.

October 17, 2024– Going Batty: Tag along as we explore the winged mammals of the night, bats! Let’s glide over and uncover their adaptations, debunk myths and even learn what we can do to help these nocturnal critters!

November 14, 2024– Terrific Turkeys: Gobble, Gobble! This fall, let’s strut our stuff like our fowl friends! Come on and investigate turkey behavior and their unique call!

December 12, 2024– Winter Wonderland: What do you think the animals do to prepare for winter? Let’s experience the wonders of winter at the Wildcat Hills Nature Center!

January 16, 2025– Wiggling Worms: Wiggly, squiggly worms! Uncover the role worms play in our soil environments.

February 13, 2025– Outstanding Owls: Come along and learn about our nocturnal feathered friend, the owl! Learn about their amazing adaptations, unique features and even dissect an owl pellet!

March 13, 2025– Powerful Pollinators: Tiny Creatures, Big Impacts! Every time you walk into your garden to enjoy a beautiful flower or pick a fruit, you might thank a bee, butterfly or humming bird. Learn about their amazing adaptations and the roles they play in the environment!

April 10, 2025– Flower Power: What makes a flower, well, a flower? Let’s explore the different parts of a flower, how they grow and their relationship to pollinators.
