Nebraska’s grasslands, covering half the state, support ecology, economy, and culture while fostering biodiversity, resilience, and food production. I will offer an overview of grassland ecology/management and introduce lesson plans and trunks with hands-on materials on ecosystems, soils, plants, carbon cycling, human impacts, global health, and grassland communities.

Presenter Bio: Cheryl Dunn is the Grassland Specialist and Herbarium Curator in the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She primarily teaches courses in plant identification and grassland ecology while leading outreach efforts that promote the conservation and appreciation of Nebraska’s native prairies. Her work focuses on plant identification, grassland education, invasive species, and connecting students and the public with the ecological importance of the Great Plains.

This webinar is part of the Master Naturalist Mondays webinar series. Nebraska Master Naturalist is a statewide volunteer conservation program.  Our program recruits, trains, manages, and provides resources for our volunteer naturalist members. We use four strategies to meet Nebraska’s conservation needs, Habit Stewardship, Community Science, Environmental Education & Interpretation, and Outdoor Recreation & Skills.  

This free webinar series will host a variety of presenters and subject matter within these four conservation strategies. Master Naturalist Mondays is a space to connect us to our conservation motivations and inspirations, and our Naturalist community across the state of Nebraska.
