Have you ever heard a rattlesnake? Smelled snake musk? Felt the keeled scales of a garter snake?
Schramm Education Center is hosting its annual “Snakes of Nebraska” event on Saturday, July 29th and Sunday, July 30th! University of Nebraska-Lincoln herpetologist Dennis Ferraro and his lab will lead a live snake encounter featuring most of Nebraska’s 29 snake species. The live snake exhibits will be set up open-house style in the Schramm Education Center classroom and will be available on both Saturday and Sunday from 10 am – 4:30 pm.
At this free event, you can see most of Nebraska’s 29 snake species, meet UNL herpetologist Dennis Ferraro, ask an expert your snake questions, and even see venomous snakes up close. Join us to learn more about the amazing, diverse snakes that call Nebraska home.
This is a free event. Regular Schramm Education Center admission fees will apply for anyone opting to visit the Education Center in addition to the event. A state park vehicle permit is not required in the Education Center parking lot. Please use the classroom entrance (on the left side of the building next to the Nebraska Game and Parks logo) to visit the event.
