teaching on the firearm range

Our Second Shots Pistol course teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a handgun safely. In addition, this class has been designed as a small group setting with the instructor for students ages 16 and over.

Course covers:

  • Handgun knowledge & review safe handling
  • Ammunition knowledge
  • Fundamentals of handgun shooting
  • Actual range practice
  • A variety of pistols, ammo, and targets provided
  • Please bring your own eye and ear protection
  • If you have your own pistol, you may bring it to use on the range (be sure to bring 50 rounds of ammunition with)

This class is designed to build the handgun skills introduced in our FIRST SHOTS course. It’s also a good refresher for those who are years out of practice. The class will begin in the classroom discussing the different types of handguns and how to handle them safely, ammunition, and reviewing the fundamentals of our FIRST SHOTS Pistol course.

The second portion of the class is spent on the range. The basics of stance, sight picture, and trigger control are emphasized to maximize success. After completing this class the goal is that participants will be prepared to safely use the range.

Closed-neck shirts and closed-toe shoes are recommended.

(Students age 18 and under MUST be accompanied by legal parent/guardian.)

Prerequisites: FIRST SHOTS Pistol class

Cost: $75
