Woodpeckers are special birds known for exactly what their name describes- pecking at wood. There are several types of woodpeckers that range in size, appearance, and habitat. Some are distinct and easy to identify such as the red-headed woodpeckers. But others look quite similar to each other like the downy and hairy woodpeckers. In this Science Of we will be exploring Nebraska’s several species of woodpeckers and looking at their special adaptations and tricks that help them achieve their drilling goals. Don’t miss this first episode in the 2023 season!
