Nebraska is home to around 100 species of fish, one of the oddest-looking fish are the gar. Nebraska is home to two species of gar- the Shortnose Gar, and the Longnose Gar. They are the only surviving members of the Ginglymodi, a clade of fish that first appeared over 240 million years ago in the Triassic. In this episode of Science Of we will explore both species of gar in Nebraska and learn about their evolutionary history, their amazing adaptations and their ecology throughout their habitat.
