Rare Butterfly Survey Training

May 26, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Help document rare butterflies across the state of Nebraska. This community science effort monitors two species: the regal fritillary and the monarch butterfly.

A Zoom training for the butterfly surveys is 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday, May 26. The first hour is dedicated to general information on monarchs, regal fritillaries, common plants and other community science opportunities; anyone is welcome. Those wanting to survey for the butterflies will learn about survey methods during the remaining time.

Register to attend the Zoom training here. We also encourage you to click “go” on the Facebook event to help spread the word about the community science opportunity.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. This webinar will be recorded, and anyone that registers will receive details about how to watch the recording within a few days of the webinar.

Two in-person training dates will be offered May 21 and June 4 for those unable to attend; only one training session is needed to participate.

For more information, contact Cody Dreier, survey organizer, at cody.dreier@nebraska.gov or 402-471-1755.
