Enjoy the sounds of the forest on a crisp winter night and join Schramm naturalists to hike the forest after nightfall. If the stars align, we’ll catch a glimpse of the Geminids meteor shower.
Dress for the weather and bring your own flashlight or head lamp. We will hike for about an hour and will walk about a mile. There are stairs at the trailhead and one spot along the hike where there will be an elevation change and we will walk up a hill. We will likely stop halfway through the hike, turn our lights off, and give our eyes time to adjust so that we can search the skies for meteors & constellations.
This is a free program, but a State Park Vehicle Entry Permit required. If you do not already have one, a daily park permit can be purchased at the self-service box at the park entrance that night with exact cash or check ($6 for Nebraska licensed vehicles; $12 for non-Nebraska licensed vehicles).
Registration is not required, but we encourage you to let us know you’re coming through this Google form so that we can estimate attendance and contact you in case of inclement weather: https://forms.gle/L4hG2kvFYgkb2cA18.
