Do you love butterflies?  Are you a community member interested in conservation and science? Then join us for Nebraska’s Big Butterfly Count Training Workshop, Saturday May 9th 2026, 10AM-3PM at the UNL Extension West Central Research Extension and Education Center, North Platte

Nebraska’s Big Butterfly Count is a community science project that is designed to collect statewide data in order to better understand butterfly diversity across Nebraska. At this workshop you will learn about community science, Nebraska butterfly identification, and how to conduct a butterfly survey for the project. Participants will receive project resources, guidance, and support from community science project leaders.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers that are willing to conduct a survey at least once every other week, from May 1st through September 30th.

This workshop is FREE to attend and lunch will be provided. Registration is required to attend this workshop, space is limited.  Register HERE
