Are you interested becoming a community scientist and helping conserve Nebraska’s rare, at-risk butterflies? If so, please join Nebraska Game and Parks Commission wildlife biologists on Saturday, June 7 at Homestead National Historical Park to learn how to participate in the monarch and regal fritillary community science project. Help us collect valuable data about these at-risk species in the state. This training will occur directly after the Homestead Insect Bioblitz taking place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. View this event flyer for more details about the Bioblitz.
The training will begin with a presentation at 1:30 p.m., followed by a mock survey. During this extensive training, you will learn how to walk an assigned transect, count butterflies, and assess habitat features. Bring water, snacks, notebook, and a hat for the brief field portion.
This event is free and open to the public.
