SCHEDULE: SATURDAY & SUNDAY (Military Timeline)
10 a.m. – The Troop: roll call, inspection, raise colors and morning gun (Flag pole/parade ground)
10:15 a.m. – Prepare for Inspection
11 a.m. – Archeology at Ft. Atkinson with guest speaker, Nolan Johnson (Visitor Center)
Noon – Assembly, Noon Gun
12:05 p.m. – Dinner Call (Peas upon a trencher)
12:30 p.m. – Archeology Tour (Powder Magazine)
1:30 p.m. – Formations for the Arikara Campaign (North Barrack)
2 p.m. – Military demonstrations (Flag pole/parade ground)
4 p.m. – The Retreat (Roll call, Inspection, Evening. gun) Flag is lowered; call in sentries and cease all challenging. End of public hours.
The gun will be fired at 10 a.m., noon and 4 p.m. (at least).
Ongoing: Blacksmith, tinsmith, spinners, cooper, military, garden, council house
Ongoing military re-enactor groups from the French and Indian War, War of 1812, Civil War, WWI & WWII, Korea and Vietnam to the present. View military displays and interpreters portraying 1820s military and civilian life at Ft. Atkinson. Military vehicles on display include Willy jeeps, a British Scout Car, various Humvees, M1008 CUCV and more!
Ft. Atkinson is located in Ft. Calhoun, NE. A valid Nebraska Park Sticker is required to be on site.
