Ongoing demonstrations featuring military and civilian life of the 1820s will occur throughout the park. Reenactors portray fur traders, coopers, blacksmiths, carpenters, tinsmiths, weavers and other period trades. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the reenactors.
10 a.m. – The Troop (roll call, inspection, raise colours and morning gun)
10:15 a.m. – Prepare for inspection at the flag pole
10:30 a.m. – Military drill at the flag pole
10:45 a.m. (Sunday only) – Church call (School Room in the north barrack)
11 a.m. – Speaker Kevin Arnold on “The Election of 1824” (Visitor Center)
11:30 a.m. – Dutch oven cooking (near Council House)
Noon – Assembly, noon gun (flag pole)
12:15 p.m. – Ice Cream Social (near Council House)
12:25 p.m. – Concert in the Park (near Council House)
1:30 p.m. – Salute to the States (flag pole)
4 p.m. – The Retreat (roll call, inspection, evening gun)
Flag is lowered; Call in sentries–cease all challenging; end of public hours.
Gun will be fired at 10 a.m., noon & 4 p.m. (at least).
A valid Nebraska Park Entry Permit is required for all vehicles to enter the park and can be purchased at the site. A per person fee is required at the Harold W. Andersen Visitor Center of $4 per adult and $1 per child.
