10th Annual Winterfest and First Day Hike at Ponca State Park

January 1, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 8:00 pm

Start the new year off right, Saturday, January 1st with a First Day Hike and Winterfest at Ponca State Park!

A guided hike will start at 9 a.m. at the West Shelter. This will be a moderate hike that will travel 1.5 miles and will be accompanied by a park naturalist to learn the history and see the natural beauty of Ponca State Park on the Old Oak Trail. At 10:30, enjoy hot chocolate and a fire at the West Shelter after the hike.

*If you enjoy more of a self-guided hike, take the Whitetail Trail and search for the 10 hidden gnomes along the trail. Look high and low for these sneaky creatures. You can hike this any time of the day. This is also a 1.5 mile moderate hike.

Then, join in Winterfest activities like the Yule Log Quest (2:00 p.m.), fruitcake fling, lighted hayrack rides (5:00 p.m.) and more. Be sure to pre-register your team of 3 to 5 people for the Yule Log Quest, as space is limited.

The events are free and family friendly. A valid vehicle park permit is required, or can be purchased at the office.
