First Day Hike at Schramm Education Center

January 1, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Start 2022 with a First Day Hike, January 1st through Schramm Education Area’s wonderful landscape on the Catalpa Trail, or head down to the State Recreation Area for a longer hike on your own. The guided hike will start at 11 a.m. at Schramm Education Center Classroom Entrance.

This will be a easy hike that will travel less than 1 mile. You may want to bring a water bottle, snacks, camera, and bird ID book. Make sure you are dressed for the weather. Depending on the weather, a portion of the activity may be held in our classroom.

Warm up with some delightful desserts and discover the joys of Dutch Oven Cooking. Following the program, join us for a short hike along our Catalpa Trail or take off on your own. We’ll start the fun at our outdoor classroom! You may want to stay and visit our education center, which will be featuring “Winter Under Water” lights in our aquarium, winter-themed activities in the maker space and more. A fee is required to take in the sights at the Education Center.

A valid vehicle park permit is required, which can be purchased at the office.
