Kick off the year with a first day hike at Eugene T. Mahoney State Park on New Year’s Day!

Meet at the James Family Conservatory & Nature Center. Walk through the conservatory and explore the nature center where you’ll find an art activity and more! The hike will start at 2 p.m. along the park’s paved path, which is wheelchair and stroller friendly. We’ll have a warm campfire for roasting marshmallows, while supplies last.

Prepare for the hike: dress in layers, wear a hat, bring a water bottle and check the forecast. Dogs are allowed on a six-foot leash.

Note that programs may be altered due to weather and trail conditions. Check back for cancellations/modified schedules if severe weather advisories are in the area.

A 2026 park permit is required for entry.
