Start off your New Year with a First Day Hike at Calamus State Recreation Area!

Join us for a moderate, 1 mile hike along the Homestead Campground Loop beginning at 1:30 p.m. Central Time. Meet at Homestead Knolls fish cleaning station.

Hikers will have a chance to see diverse wildlife as well as scenic views of the lake and Sandhills. Visitors are encouraged to hike the trail and send the park email their pictures at ngpc.calamus@nebraska.gov even if they are not able to attend the guided hike.

Consider bringing your own water, snacks, camera, and binoculars for wildlife viewing.
