Discover the creatures that go bump in the night at Fort Robinson State Park on Friday, July 17 at 8:30 p.m. Mountain Time! Join us for an evening exploring the fascinating world of bats — some of the most mysterious and misunderstood animals in the natural world.

Get an up-close look at these secretive nocturnal creatures and learn about the important roles they play in our ecosystem. We’ll share how researchers are working to protect bat species across Nebraska and beyond. The evening includes an engaging presentation and, weather permitting, a chance to observe bats in action in their natural habitat!

This family-friendly program is in partnership with wildlife biologists within the Pine Ridge Ranger District of the Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands.

Location: Please meet at the parking lot just west of the riding stables.
Hike Info: Be prepared for an 800-foot hike on uneven terrain to the bat capture site.
Cost: FREE to attend; a valid 2026 Nebraska state park permit is required for park entry.
