Join us for Christmas in July at Lewis and Clark State Recreation Area on Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18!

Activities

Friday, July 17

7 p.m. – Camp hosts and Cinnamon rolls: Stop by the Marina Patio to meet your friendly camp hosts as they share their favorite stories from years of adventures at Nebraska’s state parks. Enjoy a warm, gooey Dutch  oven cinnamon roll for $1 (cash only) while you chat.

 

Saturday, July 18

2 p.m. – Wood ornament decorating: Add a little sparkle to your weekend by creating your own custom holiday ornament on the Marina Patio, complete with festive dyes, brushes, and twine. Supplies are $5 (cash only) and limited, so swing by early to snag your spot and craft something merry to take home.

8-9 p.m. – Santa sightings and evening photos: Santa will be roaming the campground throughout the afternoon, greeting families and spreading Christmas cheer. Meet him at the Weigand Picnic Shelter for a free holiday photo session before the movie begins.

9-10:45 p.m. – Outdoor movie: The Polar Express: Settle in at the Weigand Picnic Shelter for a magical outdoor showing of The Polar Express. Enjoy $1 (cash only) hot chocolate and a Dutch oven cookie during the movie, and don’t forget to bring your own chairs and blankets!

 

Available all weekend

– Campsite Decorating Contest! — Deck out your campsite with your most creative holiday decorations for judging throughout the weekend. Show off your Christmas spirit and compete for bragging rights as the most festive campsite in the park as well as prizes for top 3 campsites!
– Christmas Scavenger Hunt — Pick up your free scavenger sheet at the Marina Store or office and explore the park as you track down every festive clue. Return your completed sheet to the same location to claim your prize!
– Holiday Chalk Art — Visit the Marina to pick up chalk and create your own colorful Christmas masterpieces on the pavement. This free, all‑weekend activity invites kids and families to brighten up the marina with holiday cheer.
– Holiday Swirl Ice Cream — Enjoy the special Strawberry + Green Apple Holiday Swirl available exclusively at the Marina Store all weekend. This festive flavor combo is a fun, seasonal treat for campers of all ages.
– Grab‑n‑Go Christmas Crafts — Pick up pre‑bagged Christmas craft kits at the Marina Store for a fun, self‑paced activity. These easy‑to‑make kits are perfect for families looking to add a little extra holiday magic to their weekend.
– Camper Photo Booth — Free holiday‑themed photo booth located at the Marina. A great stop for capturing festive memories with family and friends.

This event is free and open to the public. A valid Nebraska state park vehicle permit is required for entry.
