Join us for a nature-filled Bioblitz at Day Memorial Park in Weeping Water, Nebraska on Saturday, May 24.
Enjoy many nature-themed activities and learn from Nebraska wildlife biologists and experts, discovering and identifying as many plants and animals as possible while contributing to real scientific research.
Whether you’re a seasoned naturalist, beginner wildlife enthusiast, student or family looking for a fun outdoor activity, there is something for everyone.
All materials for sessions are provided. Don’t forget to bring boots, hat, jacket, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottles, camping chairs, etc. Food is not provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.
This event is free and open to the public.
7-10 a.m. – Birding
8-9:15 a.m. – Small mammals
9:30-10 a.m. – iNaturalist & Community Science
10:05 a.m. to noon – Reptiles & amphibians
12:30-1:30 p.m. – Lunch break (on your own)
1:30-3:30 p.m. – Butterflies, bumble bees & other pollinators
3:35-4:30 p.m. – Mussels & macro invertebrates
4:30-5:30 p.m. – Mushroom walk & talk
5:30-7 p.m. – Dinner break (on your own)
7-8 p.m. – Oak woodlands
8 p.m. to 10 p.m. – Bats mist netting & moth lighting
