Celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Fort Hartsuff with a recreation of the 1875 Grand Thanksgiving Ball! On Saturday, Nov. 15 from 5:30 to 8 p.m., the Enlisted Men’s Barracks will be cleared out and decorated for a period-correct catered light supper, music, and dancing.

Daytime activities will also be happening ahead of the event, including dance rehearsal, a shooting demonstration, and more. The front desk, gift shop and historical buildings will be open from noon to 4 p.m.

Daytime festivities are open to the public with paid admission: $5 (ages 13 and up), $1 (ages 3-12), no charge under 3. A valid vehicle park entry permit is required.

Daytime Activities

12:30-2:30: Military Marksmanship and Civilian Shooting Competitions – Watch reenactors engage in live-fire historical marksmanship and competitive shooting. Friends of Fort Hartsuff President Shane Johnson will narrate the activities, sharing insights on military marksmanship practice, historical firearms, hunting excursions, and more!

2:30-3:30 p.m.: Dance Rehearsal with The Gum Springs Serenaders and dance caller Deborah Hyland – Enjoy 1870s music, learn fun dance steps, and see the Enlisted Men’s Barracks decorated for the evening ball. This family-friendly activity is the next best thing to attending the ball!
