Have Fun at Ponca State Park!
9:00 am —11:00 am Introduction to Pellet Rifles and .22 Rifles — Join us for an introductory course on pellet rifles and .22 rifles. Pellet rifles participants must be at least 8 years of age, and .22 rifle participants must be at least 12 years to participate. All equipment is provided. Meet and pay at each range located in the Eric Wiebe Shooting Complex. Cost is $1/4 pellet rifle clips and $3/ 10 rounds of .22 ammunition.
1:00 pm American Bald Eagle— Why was the bald eagle chosen as the emblem of the United States? Learn this and other interesting facts about this majestic bird. Meet at the Resource and Education Center. Free.
3:00 pm Bird Hike — Learn the basics of birding and the common birds at Ponca State Park. We will hike Old Oak Trail (1 mile) and check out the new bird viewing blind along the trail. Meet at the West Shelter. Free.
Check out our new Ponca Scout Program! Scouts will earn a Ponca Scout Badge by completing an activity, challenge, and attending an outdoor education program. Four age groups are available including Bumble Bee Scouts (3-4 year olds), Salamander Scouts (5-6 year olds) Raccoon Scouts (7-9 year olds), and Whitetail Scouts (10 year olds and up). Everything you need to complete the Ponca Scout Program is in a scout bag. Purchase a Ponca Scout Bag at the Resource and Education Center. Cost $7/Scout Bag.
