Have Fun at Ponca State Park!
9:00 am–11:00 am Introduction to Archery and Shotguns—Introductory courses on Archery and Shotguns with all equipment is provided. Archery participants must be 5 years old and shotgun participates must be 12 years old or older. Meet and pay at the Eric Wiebe Shooting Complex. Cost $1/6 arrows for archery; $7 / box of shotgun ammunition.
9:00 am; 11:00 am Backwater Kayaking — Learn the basic skills of kayaking in an “off-river” backwater area. Fine-tune your kayaking skills while touring our backwater area and viewing wildlife. Preregister at the Resource and Education Center. Meet and pay at the Resource and Education Center. Must be 12 years of age or older and the cost is $12.00/ person.
11:30 am Critter Corner— Critter Corner is a very popular program for all ages. It provides a snapshot of the wildlife found along the Missouri River. Participants will be able to see, and touch live critters, furs, feathers, shells, skulls, etc. Meet at the Resource and Education Center. Free.
1:00 pm Outdoor Survivor- Learn how to survive in the outdoors – just in case! This class teaches the skills related to providing food, water and shelter in the outdoors. Meet at the West Shelter House. Free.
3:00 pm Every Tree for Itself- . Plan to hike Education Trail, learn how to identify the different trees surround us, and learn how to age a tree by looking at its rings. We will make a tree cookie chalkboard to take home. Please pre-register at front desk. Meet and pay at the Resource and Education Center. Cost is $1 / craft.
5:00 pm; 6:15 pm; 7:30 pm Hayrack Tour — Learn everything you wanted to know about Ponca State Park, but were scared to ask. Great for groups new to the park. Meet and pay at the Resource and Education Center. Please pre-register at front desk. Cost is $4.00 for Adults, $2.00 for Kids (5 years old and under are free). Maximum of 25 people allowed, minimum of 10.
