Have Fun at Ponca State Park on Free Fishing Day!
9:00 am –11:00 am Introduction to Archery — Introductory course for beginners 5 years of age and older. Participants will learn basic archery skills – all equipment is provided. Meet and pay at the Eric Wiebe Shooting Complex. Cost is $1/6 arrows.
11:30 am Critter Corner — Critter Corner is a very popular program for all ages. This program provides a snapshot of the wildlife found along the Missouri River. Participants will be able to see, touch, and sometimes smell live critters, furs, feathers, shells, skulls, etc. Meet at the Resource & Education Center. Free.
1:30 pm — 3:30 pm Fishing Competition (Ages 3-15) — Its time to fish! Competitors will be divided into two age groups: 3-7 year olds and 8-15 years old. Prizes will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place in each age group for the longest fish. Meet at the pond by the Resource and Education Center. Free.
Fishing Competition Rules
Children need to attend their own fishing pole at all time.
Fishing needs to take place within the allotted timeframe.
Multiple fish can be caught and recorded.
All fish will be caught and released.
1:30 – 3:30 pm Casting Competition (Ages 3-15) — Try your hand at casting! Competitors will gain points for each plastic fish they catch. First place will be awarded in two age groups: (3-7 year olds and 8-15 year olds). Meet at the Pond by the Resource and Education Center. Free.
