Have Fun at Ponca State Park!
6:30 am Sunrise Bird Tour— Get up before the birds! Join an expert guide from the Loess Hills Audubon Society to watch waterfowl wake-up and continue their migration. Make sure to bundle up for this program and feel free to bring your binoculars, spotting scopes, and cameras. Please pre-register by calling (402)755-2284. Meet inside the Resource and Education Center. Free. (Limited to 10 people per tour).
11:00 am Bird Critter Corner— Learn about a variety of bird species in the display wing of the Education Center. Participates will be able to touch and feel talons, feathers, and beaks. A live African ring-necked dove will be present for the kids to see. Meet in the display wing of the Resource and Education Center. Free.
2:00 pm Bird Nest— Nesting season is here and birds build a wide variety of nests depending on their lifestyle. Discover the unique bird nest in Nebraska. Participates will also build a bluebird box. Pre-register at the Resource and Education Center or call (402)755-2284. Limited to 20 bluebird boxes. Meet in the Resource and Education Center. Cost is $5 per bluebird box.
6:45 pm Sunset Bird Tour— Watch the birds return to the safety of the marsh at dusk. A guide from the Loess Hill Audubon Society will accompany you to our bird blinds. Binoculars, spotting scopes, and bird books will be available on the tour. Please pre-register by calling (402)755-2284. Meet in front of the Resource and Education Center. Free. (Limited to 10 people per tour).
This weekend there will be a 20% discount on all bird merchandise and a 30% discount on mini-lodges.
