Have Fun at Ponca State Park!
6:00 am Sunrise Bird Tour— Get up before the birds! Join an expert guide from the Loess Hills Audubon Society to watch waterfowl wake-up and continue their migration. Make sure to bundle up for this program and feel free to bring your binoculars, spotting scopes, and cameras. Please pre-register by calling (402)755-2284. Meet inside the Resource and Education Center. Free. (Limited to 10 people per tour).
11:00 am Bird Critter Corner— Learn about a variety of bird species and why they migrate. Participates will be able to touch and feel talons, feathers, and beaks. A live African ring-necked dove will be present for the kids to see. Meet in the Resource and Education Center. Free.
2:00 pm Bird Hike— Take an afternoon hike on the Overlook Trail (1.2 miles). See picturesque views of the Missouri River while bird watching. Learn how to identify local birds by sight and sound. This hike will also be included in Hiking Marathon and the NE150Challenge. Meet at the Resource and Education Center. Free.
5:15 pm Sunset Bird Tour— Watch the birds return to the safety of the marsh at dusk. A guide from the Loess Hills Audubon Society will accompany you to our bird blinds. Binoculars, spotting scopes, and bird books will be available on the tour. Please pre-register by calling (402)755-2284. Meet in front of the Resource and Education Center. Free. (Limited to 10 people per tour).
This weekend there will be a 20% discount on all bird merchandise and a 30% discount on mini-lodges.
There is still time to enter our Snowman Contest. The Snowman Building Contest ends the first day of spring, March 19.
