Looking for a good way to introduce your son or daughter to the lifelong habits of safe gun handling and the basic concepts of marksmanship? This class is where they need to be!
Intro to Gun Safety & Technique for Young Shooters is a 10 week course designed for youth ages 8-10, but open to those up to 15. Youth 7 & under are not permitted. BB guns (.177 cal) used for all class exercises (equipment provided). Air guns are a tried-and-true non-threatening way to teach gun basics and a great building-block to becoming a safe and competent shooter with larger caliber equipment.
Parents/guardians are encouraged to stay & learn how to help guide their new shooter.
Cost for 10 week series: $30/student
Registration closes February 22nd. Minimum 4 students required to hold class. Participants must be pre-registered, no walk-ins allowed.
Week 1: Basic gun safety & intro to the gun/range; dry firing at target backs from bench position.
Week 2: Gun/range safety continued; gun parts continued; live firing at target backs from bench position.
Week 3: Safety & gun parts review; intro to sight picture; live firing at target faces from bench position.
Week 4: Shooting for score, sight adjustment, & scoring targets; live firing at target faces from bench position.
Week 5: Bone support & breath control; introduction to standing position; live firing from standing position.
Week 6: Trigger pressure & follow-through; introduction to kneeling position; live firing from kneeling position.
Week 7: Shooter’s checklist review & other gun actions/types; introduction to the sitting position; live firing from sitting position.
Week 8: Understanding calibers & shot; learning the prone position; live firing from prone position.
Week 9: Understanding other sight types; learning to use the sling; live firing from kneeling with a sling.
Week 10: Nutrition & fitness for the serious shooter; best score from preferred position contest.
