Please join us at Ponca State Park on January 1st for our 1st Day Hike! We will meet at the West Shelter for an easy 1 mile Hike on the Old Oak Trail.
The Old Oak Trail will feature the Old Oak Tree. This Bur Oak Tree began its life in 1644 and was 143 years old when the US Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787. The tree was 223 years old when Nebraska became a state in 1867. Ponca State Park has 22 miles of hiking trails available to the public. We also offer unguided hikes, scavenger hunt hikes, and we will be kicking off our 2017 Hiking Marathon. Please contact the front desk for the condition of the trails and to pick up your scavenger hunt.
Children under 3 may need to be carried.
Dress for the weather and bring water and binoculars.
A Park Entry Permit is required.
