Family Ice Fishing Clinic @ Fort Kearny State Recreation Area Lake No. 6

Learn the basics of ice fishing at this Family Ice Fishing clinic.

This on-ice clinic will be held Jan. 7 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Fort Kearny State Recreation Area Lake No. 6.

Limited loaner equipment will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bait and instruction will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment.

A park entry permit is required. All fishing regulations apply.

The meetings will begin with an overview of the 2018 fishing forecast, an update on special projects, and a report of potential regulation changes. Nebraska Game and Parks Commission staff then will receive feedback and answer questions.

Youth Fishing Instructor Certification Class @ St. Mary's Parish Center

Youth fishing instructors will receive training and tools to conduct fishing clinics. These volunteers will have access to Game and Parks’ loaner fishing equipment and educational materials for events, as well as receive program incentives. They also are encouraged to volunteer for such Nebraska Game and Parks programs as Family Fishing Nights and the Outdoor Expos. There is no cost to become or participate as a Youth Fishing Instructor.

The event is free. All participants age 16 or older need a 2018 fishing permit if they fish at the event.
